hey, this might seem kinda dumb, but I'm completely stumped.

One of my belts went when I was driving down the highway in my 89 Grand Am, no problem, I've changed planty before. I went, but the belt (It's the one hat goes from the power steering pump, to the alenator and down to the water pump, I believe...the longest belt)
So, I go back to he car, and notice that to get this belt on, the belt below it has to come off (the one all the way at the botom of the engine). What I can't figure out it how the hell to get that belt off? I can't find a single tensioner anywhere?

Maybe i's jus because it was 8:30 and really dark and I'm just mising something pretty obvious. Anyway, a little help please....

A wild guess here. Does the bottom thing have to be loosened to remove the belt. If it's a short belt you would adjust the tension by adjusting the device. It could be the AC compressor since you mentioned the power steering, alternator and water pump.

Do you have ac? If so the ac pump may have to be loosened to remove the second belt. Crap It has been so long since i worked on a 2.5 I know that both the power steering pump and the alternator are adjustable, the belt has to go around one of them dosent it?

I remember when i replaced my belts on my 91 i had loosen up the power steering pump so i could tilt it just enough to get the larger of the two belts off. the alternator belt is easy too. just loosen it and the belt will come off
if you need help just look for me on aol if you have it
my sn is niteshadow82 or look for me online here.

I figured it out. The whole power steering pump has to be loosened up, but first, the belt that goes o the AC has to come off. I just cut it, as this is strictly a winter beater, and who needs AC in the winer?

Damn, i was such a pain in the ass. Wish it was like my camaro, stick a ratched in he tensioner, and pull.
