... you can't get rid of the red as the plastic itself is red; however if you don't mide painting them, just do that and you then can have any color you want ... all you have to do is to remove all the vinyl, then sand them smove, prime them and finally apply paint :)

I found a post on another GM car forum, and people are painting them without taking the rubber off of the front. The first time i tried that the paint seemed to never dry... I read that they are putting a coat of clearcoat on first beofre any paint. then they are painting them. From what i have seen they are haveing good results....

Yea,you'll just have to paint over them....My knobs were white after i finally got off the d@mn vinyl off.I put like 3 coats of white paint and the light still shines through. They might have been light coats, but then i painted the pointer part(shows where the knob is set on) a metallic blue, looks good during the day, looks crap at night, white with orange light showing through,if i could figure out how to get to the bulb and change it I would.

I stripped mine but then they looked like crap. I was in the middle of painting my interior so I decided to give it a try. I sanded them then masked the little spot that used to be white and then painted them and clear coated them. Check them out...
