I didn't know where else to post this, so I chose here.

I just got this idea in my head of designing a digital readout "module" to output the speedometer and tachometer. I can design everything up until I get to the car's computer. I need to pin point the signals that the computer uses to determine the speed.

I've got a couple of ideas and I may not even need to get to the computer. Just wanna know what ya'll think. Also, let me know if someone has already done this. Thanks. Peace.

it's been talked about, and it is going to cost you some $$$ to make, your going to have to get alot of parts, unless your willing to spend over a grand on the parts your gonna have a hard time doing it, now that thats over with, if you do end up getting them done then I'll take some!!

I don't think it would cost all that much if you are doing it yourself. Just need a little electrical know how.

Now, all you would need is the pin information, and then some measurements from that pin. The circuit would be a bit complex, but still doable.

Let me know if you get that info, and I can see what I could do too.

Well, Dakota Digital does it, but for atleast $250. I'm thinking it won't take that much to build what I wanna do. Ir atleast I hope not.

well now wait a minute, my moms 96 bonny had "heads up display" which was digital in the winsheild.. now, you could find that cluster and mess w/ that,, i just bought a "00" GA cluster for my 00 for $40 shipped, so a 96 bonny cluster should be pretty cheap... and i bet the comp is pretty close to the same... have to have them side by side but i bet you could do it that way!

www.scantool.com

maybe you can just get an OBDII reader and use some of their free software... or maybe hack the OBDII reader to give you the electical signals and whatnot that you need.
