View Full Version : Can a very shy person do okay at this meet?

So I've got a somewhat nagging question now. I don't know anyone from this site at all. By my nature, I'm a pretty shy person when it comes to meeting new people in a large group, so I"m sure I'm not gonna just jump into this Albany thing with both feet and run around talking to everyone like I know you all. My car isn't really anything special compared to some pics I've seen of other members rides, so it couldn't be a conversation starter or anything. I don't know why I'm shy, I just always have been, and I don't want to go to this meet and have noone talk to me or me talk for the whole weekend, and I don't know if my gf will go or not. That'd suck, you know? Can someone who's been there tell me what to expect, etc? I'm excited about going, but also nervous as hell.

I can guarantee that you will fit in in many conversations!!! Don't worry about not being spoken to. Really.... we are a great personable group. You will do just fine. :) DON'T be nervous! Expect to have fun. Expect to look at a bunch of great GA's, great people... :)

I know it may sound forced coming from me, but by nature I am a VERY shy person. I was nervous as hell last year, but everyone made me feel very welcome. We've got a great group of people heading to Albany again this year.

All you gott do is mention to someone who you are, and you're guarenteed to have a great time.

Besides all the cheeseburgers, I never heard one negative remark about the meet last year. My advise: introduce yourself, and go where the action is. ;) Oh, and you can be sure there'll be lots of laughs in the hotel room partys at night. :D

You will have a good time. If you need someone to talk to just find your way over to me and I will help you along.

That's cool, Jason. I feel the same way and probably wouldn't have ventured to go if Liz weren't coming with me. In person I'm a timid as a mouse when I'm around people I'm not all that familiar with (Although when you get me talking you can't get me to shut up). I think having interacted with most of y'all on here will take the edge off and I'm looking forward to June. :D

I'm hoping to have that same reaction. Once I talk to ya'll for a few minutes, I'll be fine forever.

I went last year, knew no one from the board. and let me tell you, besides my name being the same, my personality sounds a lot like yours Jason.. I'm pretty quiet, ask anyone that was there, I was quiet.. lol.. but I had a hell of a good time, and expect this year to be even better!

Hope to definately see ya there!

Trust us all when we say you will not be disapointed <--- DID I SPELL THAT RIGHT? Anyway you are gonna meet some of the biggtest nuts on the planet and have a blast. We are all out to have fun. Meet new people, check out rides, learn that yellow Taxi's can go 10 seconds in the quarter mile....all kinds of fun stuff. Just be prepared to see someone you met in highschool....or something like that. O hey how ya doin is the most common line you will hear the first day. No one is better than any other at the meets. We are all one big screwed up family. I garuntee you will know where I am because I seem to have the loudest car on the planet.

We had many shy people last year. I, myself showed up after everyone had already met due to my job, so I felt a bit out of the loop. But that only lasted a few minutes.

Headers are gonna be here on wed. And they are being installed in a few weeks. It should be louder, and I hope is still sounds good.

I'm with ya man.

Anyway, it's easy to get to know people. And at the very least Kelly makes his rounds once a day. I don't think there was ANYONE he didn't talk to last year :)

Pucci has a point here!! :D We really are a big screwed up big Pontiac family. And he's right in saying that no one is any better than anyone else. The secret I find to be true, is just ask any random person you see, "What's going on tonight/today", follow the big crowd and you are guarenteed to have a blast!

Am I going to be the only single person going there? That's another concern of mine. I didn't know about that.

no you won' tbe the only single person there.. I was single there last year.. don't worry about that at all.. you will make friends fast. Hook up with a caravan to get there though, so that way you will at least know a few people before you get there.

Don't worry buddy, I'm shy as hell and it was great last year. First meet on Friday afternoon outside Shawn's and Kelly's rooms we broke the ice and never looked back.

You'll do just fine.

P.S.: I'm single too, doesn't matter at all...
