Exhaust question

I took my 2000 SE to the exhaust shop friday to get some mor eperformance out of my 2.4. They looked under my GA and informed me that they couldnt do anything about the system. I even checked out Napa and Auto Zone, they told me that they dont even list a muffler for the 2000. Ive read the posts about using a GT muffler. I looked under there my self and was amazed to see the shape of the stock muffler. Any help would be appreciated.:???:

They may not make a replacement muffler but you can just do a custom exhaust. You can stick with the crossflow style muffler and go with the flowmaster muffler used on camaro's. I think it is the 80 Series. The SE and the GT use the same muffler.

I duno, im putting a Borla or Flowmaster onto my 99SE it should fit.

are you just buying the one for the V6 and making it fit for the 2.4?

for the 2000 SE you go with a 20" long, 2 1/4" offset center. They just cut all the old crap off and weild the new one on. Make sure they don't use the hanger from the old muffler and use two hangers on the new one so you wont get any reverb comeing into the car. If you are looking for even more power have them cut out the resonator and weild straight pipe in it's place.

If you have the resonator cut, have the battery disconnected so the ECM goes back into learn mode cause you'll have much higher
than before.

No matter which big name you go with you will have much higher flow. But I personally hate the sound of a flowmaster on anything but a small block V8 or higher.

yeah im putting a the 3.4 on my 3.4 i was told it will fit so if it dosent i wil be VERY pissed at the people on here that said it will ;)

you're putting a 3.4 what? Stock muffler? not worth it, just get a magnaflow or slp 20" long, 2 1/4" offset center. It will fit perfectly and have the lowest cost/highest flow without going straight pipe

he means hes putting on the exhaust (borla, slp) that is meant for a 3.4 L...on his 2.4L
