Old school Nintendo games from Japan used people with very limited English skills to translate the game's dialogue and subtitles into English from Japanese. This resulted in very poor and very amusing results. I forget the game's name, but it has the line "All your base are belong to us." People took it from there and it became kind of a modern day "Killroy was here."

Thank you for the break down of it for me. I've seen that term many times and always wondered what 4 yearold came up with it.

Game was "Zerowing" for Sega Genesis. The whole story/history is in my above link.

That's right...It was a Sega game. Anyhoo...Lots of messed up crap on some of the old Nintendo games too...

Nope, not intentional at all. Pretty damn cool though, that's the exact same sign from the vid. I've seen that vid before too. Kelly took that pic during one of our caravans. That's Keith's green car, and I can make out Dan, Adam, Me, and Marta in the lineup as well.

Shawn, you SHOULD edit that pic to say either All your GA"s Are Belong To Us or All Your Grand Am's Are Belong To Us.

Yes, you are correct sir! :)
Red Dragon is actually a remake of a Michael Mann film, Manhunter. It came out in 85 or 86 IIRC. Freddy Lounds dies the same way, but I think it happened in a parking garage. It has been a long time since I saw it. Michael Mann, BTW, was the guy who gave us Miami Vice.
But getting back on topic, The bizarre thing about this is that the angle of the sign is nearly identical in size and angle in both shots!

If you look close, you can see that they erased that part off the sign... It's very visible.
I still think it's pretty cool. :)

Not exactly. Look at the cross-members of the metal truss, different angles visable on the left side. Also, the trees are visable on the right in the AYB vid. Looks like that pic was taken closer and towards the left compared to the GAOC pic.

Yea, you can tell it was a quick photoshop job. Notice that every letter in "All You Base Are Belong to Us" is in the original sign, except for the "g"

ok.. now you are being just a BIT too picky. Especially since that photo was never at all intended to be taken like that. For just a coincidence what are the odds that the pictures would be like that? This year we'll try to be a little more accurate with the camera closeness and angles :)

Yup, I knew that...Huge Tom Harris fan here. If I remember correctly, Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was the recurring song in Manhunter. What a great song!
