basically doing anything will void the warranty in the dealerships eyes. they tried saying that the reason my car wouldn't start was because i had neon lights in the interior and a sound system. i thought that was funny. dealerships just don't know how to make money i guess. keep the customer happy and they come back. also, they charge the company that the warranty is through. the dealership gets paid no matter what. what a bunch of morons. ha ha. i have an extended warranty and am able to take it anywhere my heart desires. i know mechanics that like to make money i guess. shouldn't be too hard to find if you look for one. i think you can only take it anywhere you want if you have the extended warranty. if this is an issue, only mod the vehicle with things that are easy to take on and off. good luck!

well, if the dealer sells them and installs them; the best thing to do is just ask them then. i thought you meant an aftermarket pully. i don't think a dealer approved product can void any warranty no matter what, but i wouldn't be surprised with the probs i have with dealers over the dumbest things. i have a few dealerships that will never be able to sell me a car. there's some good ones out there though. i have found one that doesn't care too much about the aftermarket parts. good luck!

technically it shouldn't void warranty, but like he said. they might fuss a little when they see it

If you crank goes, they'll blame it. If you alternator dies then they'll blame it. Basically any accessory that is connected to that pulley would be considered your cost to repair. So if you have a problem, then get rid of it at another mechanic then take it to the dealer.

:agree: i'm about to drop a crate motor in my ride and i'm gonna change the cam and stuff on it, but i'm gonna keep the original cam just in case something breaks :D

The Dealer can only decline to warranty a fult when they can prove that the Modification directly caused the part in question to fail.
Case in point, my stock cat cloged when i had it, I took it to the dealer under GM's 6 year 120,000KM emissions warranty and the ****er said because I had an intake it caused the cat to clog. I talked to the service manager I asked her to prove it. I got a call back 10 min later from the service advisor saying that they would be honoring the warranty.

consider yourself very lucky. i thank god that my warranty allows me to take the car anywhere i so desire. i have argued with managers for hours about it. i even took all performance out of the car before taking it up there. first they said it was my alarm. i disproved that theory to them quickly. then it was my sound system, i disproved that theory quickly. then it was my neon lights, i disproved that theory quickly as well. when they had nothing else to ping it on they still wouldn't fix my car and charged me a service charge. i tell ya what, they're so lucky it's not illegal to kill people, ha ha. anyways, if you can, don't bother with a dealer, they don't know how to make money properly, take it to a mechanic that you know won't care what modifications are on there. i haven't had a problem since i have done that, and i leave my performance parts on every time.

Always get a second opinion, if the dealer is being a bunch of pricks bring it to another one, if they fix it great, But keep fighting Threaten them if you have to! (As in Legal action) I know GM is a big corporation but sometimes they will just cave because they couldent be botherd.

i have taken it to multiple dealers. a matter of fact, some of the discussions got so interesting that i will never buy a car from them or recommend anyone going there. the only dealer i haven't had a problem with was a dealer around the troy area in michigan. it is called somerset pontiac. they know how to make money there. never had a prob with the sound system, alarm, neons, etc. i took off performance parts before going there of course, but now just use a mechanic that just doesn't care.
