Heater core replacement

Hello, has anyone done this on a 95 Grand Am with the 3100 engine? Mine will need to have the head gaskets replaced and was wondering if it will be easiere to replace the heater core while the heads are out.

The heater core is inside the car.

It will save a little time since the coolant will be drained already.
