Hi-Beam Headlite switch intermittent

Has anyone been able to self fix an intermittent hi-beam headlite switch (97 Grand Am 3.1L). A new one is @$150 from dealer.
Hi beam to come on intermittently or if I continually hold the switch. Sometimes while flicking it to Hi-beam the lites go out also.

Sounds like the commonly failing 94-95 switch.

I ripped mine to pieces and cleaned up all the contacts, rebent the springs and soaked the contacts in alcohol. It worked for another month and died again. :(

Don't pay a dealer for it, mucho rip-offo.

mine is going but i don't have money to fix it. so i had a friend just make me one from the one i had its cool it has a button to switch them over
