I drive a 99 Grand Am and for the past month or so it has been making this crazy ticking noise (the turn signal tick). After I use my turn signal the noise usually goes crazy for a good 5-10 seconds (even though the turn signal is not on) and other times it will just randomly start doing it. I've taken it to two mechanics, neither were able to figure it out. Any suggestions as to what this might be and/or how it can be fixed??

Do a search on here and look up,"Blinker relay contacts". Theres another suggestion there on it. It worked for me, I had the same problem.

I just had this fixed at the dealer (2002 grand am). They had to replace some fuse they said.
Only difference yours goes on for 5 to 10 seconds after you use the switch. Mine went on for hours lol.

Before I got my '04, I had a 99 GA SE and it did that crap too. A quick solution anytime you hear is take your fist and bash the top of the ETS/Hazard switches and if you nail it just right, they will stop...for the time being. I had my bashing down to an art and it became second nature for me...With my '04 I am as happy as can be...everything is in perfect condition...the ticking drove me insane like I wanted to hurt people.

i just payed $40 for the part, and it was a ***** to install. but once you have done it, you will look back and see that it would be easy to do again.

Heh. I would be willing to bet that in about a year or so it will happen. At least if it happens now you know how to fix it ;)
