Did anyone ever encounter this problem? I think that my gas guage is wacked or something. Last week I had 120 miles on my trip odometer. My tank guage showed that it was almost empty. So I did what you suppose to do go to a gas station and get some gas. So I did. Only 7 gallons went in. I was like WTF the guage is showing that its almost empty and yet only 7 gallons went in. I believe that my tank holds 14 gallons its a 99 Grand am SE 3.4 V6. I only get gas at SUNOCO and I always put in Super which is 93 (octane). Right now I have about 150 miles on the trip odometer and the arrow on the gas guage is almost at E. I know that on like a full tank of gas ur suppose to do at least 200 miles or even more sometimes. Depends on the driving that you do. I also figured out that if last time my car had 120 miles on it. 120+120=240 miles. 240 miles is exactly 14 gallons. I do both city and high way driving. Most of my driving is city only a little is high way. I think that if I keep using my trip odometer and put gas in my car every 190-200 miles I should be ok. What do you guys think ?

My questions are.
1) How many gallons does a tank of a 99 Grand AM SE hold. Is it 14 gallons by any chance ?
2) Did any of you guys ever encounter this problem, I'm sure some of you must have. If so how could you fix it?

My gas gauge is a little whack too. even though it manages to show a respectable amount of gas relative to the trip odemeter i reset every time i got gas .,. one time it showed a half tank after like 200 miles. Ok Right? I was able to top off the tank with 12.5 gallons. You tell me?

The trip odometer is way more accurate. Keep track of your MPG's and estimate a little low so you have some reserve. The gas gauge is more of a guide than anything accurate. It's a real pain to replace the sending unit, gotta drop the tank and it's around $300 just for the part.
