I have a 94 GA & was wondering if anyone has installed a shift kit in something similar?
TransGo sells 1, but a tech there said getting some cover off the side of the trans is really hard.

Umm...it's front wheel drive. You would have to remove the transmission to do a shift kit, unless I'm mistaken. And removing the transmission includes lifting the motor out of the car about 6 inches.

Right, I know it's FWD/ trans-verse & all. Just , most kits go in thru the bottom (pan). & the guy @ trans-go was saying, it installs thru a cover on the side?

Dead link.
And B&M Does have a shift kit, you do not even need to crack the tranny run a few wires and thats it, Autotranse is plug and play. Its akk about Running higher line pressure.

So I called B&M & they said they have no kit for these trans'.
I guess they might have that switch thing, but all that is a couple of resistors to increase line pressure.
I also spoke with a trans guy & sopposedly getting the side cover off to install some real parts would be as easy as removing the left axel. No trans removel needed.

your wanting a Shift Improver kit,not a Shift kit,to B&M thats two totally different things.I just bought a Shift Improver(the ShiftPlus Improver kit) and it does seem to have tighter shifts and jerks a little harder,i think its worth the 45 bucks.I don't know what tranny the 99+ GA's have but they might have an improver kit for it.

Right, that's just a switch with 2 diff. resistors to select higher line press. And take note that the shifts don't soften with time as the torque mangment kicks in.

Well its deffly a quick install and does help when racing;) :D But like I said,it beats using the other Shift Improver kit which you have to drop the transmission pan. This thing just taps into your vacum line on the transmission, assuming you have the right tranny for the kit.
