I just did a cat-back exhaust earlier in the week, so I figured I needed an intake too. Rather than blow lots of money of some intake system, I just baught a cone filter and baught a rubber piping peice from Lowe's, which was a perfect fit.

I drilled out a hole in the piping peice for the O2 sensor, and pulled out the airbox. Turned out pretty good. I'll try to get pictures of it.

I didn't notice any performance gains, but it makes the car sound much more beastly. It even has a distinct "whooosh" when it sucks in the air, it almost sounds like a blow-off valve.

sounds like what I did for my first attempt at an intake,it does help the sound, over time you'll see it does help a little to in the power but not enough to wow you or anything,lol....But i have the 2.4 so its a little different but same concept and idea,as long as it makes you happy i say hey, thumbs up:)

Damn straight! It's funner to make something yourself than to just buy something. I really have to get a picture. It looks surprisingly good.

Exactly ... doing is sometimes more fun the buying, no question :)

hehehe, and it was also fun to see the guy at Lowe's look on his face. I don't really go there, so instead of wandering around I asked where the PVC piping is. He told me where it was, and asked me what I was doing. I said I was putting an intake on my car. He just sat there and stared me for awhile.

I didn't actually use a PVC pipe though, rather a black rubber peice that I guess would go inbetween two peices of pipe. It just so happened to fit perfectly, looked better than a white peice of plastic, and seems like it would be more airtight than the tube.

I'd like to do pictures, but my camera is out of commission.

I could probably talk you through it. It was pretty simple.

Keep in mind this is a Warm Air Intake, not a Cold Air Intake. It sits in the engine bay, where the airbox used to be. The whole process takes about 5 minutes (minus the time it took me to drill the hole for the O2 sensor...which was just obscene...)

OH YEH im aware but the thing is changing to a WAI would that affect the performance and or health of the engine..........since you are sucking up warm more dirty air from the engine bay........yeh i would like some instructions thanks post them here or u can message me them

Darn, 4 hours?
We did our CAI at the track in the staging lanes with a crappy selection of hand tools in about 20 minutes. Took the tire and inner fender off and all. Sure we had 3 people helping but whats the point of having friends if you can't make them help you out from time to time.
