I HAVE A QUESTION??? MY GRAND AM SE STOPPED WORKING ONE DAY... SOME SAY IT IS BECAUSE OF LACK OF FUEL, BUT IF THAT WAS THE CASE THEN, WHEN I PUT GAS IN IT,, WHY DIDN'T IT START... I MEAN, IT COULD BE THE FUEL PUMP... OR SOMETHING AROUND THAT,,, SO IF THAT IS THE CASE ,,, HOW DO I GO ABOUT CHECKING IT???:???:

FIRST OF ALL YOU NEED TO CHECK TO SEE IF ITS GETTING SPARK IF ITS GETTING SPARK THEN YOUR OK IN THAT AREA.
IF ITS NOT GETTING FULE THERE COULD BE A BAD PUMP, BAD ELECTRICAL TO THE PUMP IN THE WIREING HARNESS, COULD ALSO BE ALL YOUR INJECTORS ARE SHOT BUT I DOUBT THAT. OR YOUR FULE SYSTEM COULD BE SHUT OFF.
YOU NEED TO TROUBLE SHOOT AND TRY THINGS OUT. BUT DONT GO REPLACING ALL THESE PARTS WHEN DOING IT. I WOULD SAY TO CHECK IF YOU ARE GETTING FULE ALSO OPEN UP THE FULE LINE OIR RAIL (CANT REMEMBER WHAT ONE) AND TRY AND START IT FULE SHOULD SQUIRT OUT OF IT DOSENT BAD PUMP OR BAD ELECTRICAL. I HOPE THAT HELPS YOU.

When you turn on the ignition key do you hear a hum for a second or to from the back of the car? If you do, then the fuel pump is running and building system pressure. The next thing to do is check for good fuel pressure. You do that by connecting a fuel pressure test gage to the fuel rail test port on the engine. Your fuel pressure should be between 40 and 45 psi. If you have low fuel pressure it could be the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure regulator, or a stuck open fuel injector. If your fuel pressure is good, you can pretty much rest assured that the fuel system is OK.
The next thing to check for is spark. If the engine is not firing on any cyliders, the problem is probably in the IDI or an electrical connection going to it. At this point I would have to go with the advice of the Quad guys for troubleshooting the IDI. LARGEFISH OR 4K QUAD should be able to give you good pointers in this area.
Not to rag on you, but this should be posted in the "Problems and Solutions" section.

And your point would be what? That you are incapable of reading the terms of service for a board from which you expect help? That's more than a bit rude...
