Get a cold air intake and custom exhaust (kits cost too much, in my opinion) and see how much money you have left. If you had about $1000 after that, which you should, a 60 shot of nitrous should give either engine no problem, and will for sure give you the most gains out of anything you could spend 1k on.

CAI, Exhaust, headers, intake mani, computer chip, cams ect.

Nitros is a waste of cash to get right away, not like your going to use it on the street all the time id get crap that you can use with out having to refill.

either ASE for DHP for a chip. check pfyc.com for the DHP. Also, jsut ask around for a CAI, there are a couple of guys here who make a CAI for our 99 GA's and I cant remember what Keiths name is on here. Damn.

I don't mind refilling something if it makes my car competitive in a completely different class of cars. But then again, I'm all about racing...

yeah but nos come on we drive real cars not rice burners and unless you are running a weekend competition car and are usin a 100 shot on a rebuilt engine then screw nos its all hype. plus you kill your rings and crap sooner rather than later.

I made my own CAI for about 70 dollars... just took a little elbow grease to put it in correcly. Worked like a charm once i got it in. I can feel that my car is a little more responsive after the install. I used the short ram for civics, high flow cone filter, and rubber PVC coupler from home depot. It came out to about 40 for the short ram tube, 25 for the filter, and 5 for the coupler. Took about 4 hours to install but that was because i couldnt find my air powered grinder.

$1500 you in good shape...

I spent $600 estimated to hit 14.910...

I would go with... CAI, Exhaust, Upper Intake, Headers, TB, etc...

there's several things you can do. intake, head work, exhaust, air intake, headers, throttle body, pullies, thermostat, im not sure if they make cams or not for the 3.4, chip, and there's other ways to get HP too, but then you start getting into more money. higher compression, balanced/blueprinted engine, get the heads and intake port matched/ported/polished, forced induction (lol, WAY over 1500), and getting a hotter spark.

if it were me i'd start with the full exhaust (headers/muffler/mandrel bend), CAI, pullies, and thermostat to start out with. then go from there

You have obviously never had nitrous, nor studied anything about it. You do realize that a 60 shot adds, on average, around 60 hp? And in all the right places, at that? So if I add a 60 shot to my 155hp 3100, i'm going to be pushing around 215hp. That would put me somewhere in the neighborhood, power to weight wise, of a GTP. That's some niiiice hype, right there. :roll2:

And before you talk about reliability, very few well kept cars have any problem with a 60 shot or less. In fact, the cooling effect actually helps some cars that have a high solonoid temp.

^ I agree and disagree with you...

Are you saying you have a 155hp to the wheels making it 215whp or do you mean at the crank...

1999-the year before the new model gtp's run 240 HP at the crank... HOLLA :)

for a hundred bucks you can buy a kit from standard abrasives that includes various grits of sandpaper and grinding stones as well as a step by step video on how to port and polish the top end of your engine, besides that just peruse rksport, doctorspeed etc. for something that might catch your fancy:D.
