i bought this amp kit and the power and ground wires are both 8 gage. it says for 1000 watt amps on the box and on the back it has the wires listed and the wires are as follows: POWER:8 GAGE, GROUND:8 GAUGE, REMOTE:16 GAUGE, SPEAKER WIRE: 12 GAUGE. do those sound right?? i thought a 1000 watt kit came with 4 gauge. maybe i was wrong. but my amp is only 700 at peak power anyways so will this kit still get the job done? another quick question, im hookin all this up to the factory CD player and i bought the necessary outlet to plug the amp into because theres no RC wires on the radio, but my question is do i still hook up the remote wire(blue) to the radio?? any help would b appreciated, thanx.

It really depends because your amp is 700 w max, which doesnt mean much. As for me though, for 500w rsm, Im running 4 gage. You, well you might be ok with 8 gage though I woudl still try for 4 if you can

for 1000 watts i'd use at least 4 gauge....if not bigger. you'd be fine with 8 gauge, but i'd go with 4.

it depends on the wire brand, because if you notie that some brands post iin MAX numbers where-asother post in RMS numbers. the RMS is the more accurate number, until the CEA certified number becomes more popular. youll notice that on some 2004 model radios they are rated at CEA power which is lower than the rated number, thats the accurate number now. itll take a while for that to trickle down to everything else..

back on subject, that kit is for 1000 watts max power. a very inaccurate way to rate a power kit. the monster cable 1000 watt power kit is 4 gauge power wire. they dont give 8 gauge until you get down to 200 watt kits.
