I see quite a few '99+ grand ams with headlight covers... and I think they look REALLY sharp. I'll be getting an '04 soon (hopefully :( ) and I wanted to know if anyone here has headlight covers and what they think of them...

I really like them. They do really cut out a lot of visibility at night. I am thinking about selling these ones and getting a set of clear ventshades and making them into like projector headlight covers.

depends on the color really of the car.. sometimes it can make the car look like a bug.. me personally I like vinyl over lays on the ambers... plus with not taking them off every night when it gets dark in a pain in the butt and its hard driving with just the fog lights..

The color of the '04 that I might get is Black (wanted it in midnight blue, but silly pontiac doesn't sell GTs in that color!!!)... If I do get it, I'll take your advice, 03xGAxSE... and upgrade my fog lamps... Thanks!

Oh!!! ...These are the things I want to mod on the car if I get it... overall, it'll cost me probably 250$ from a site I'd order from:

1) GT Reflector Badge
2) Headlight Covers
3) Ventshade Visors
4) Blue-tinted windows
5) Splash Guards (that read "Grand Am")
6) Blue Door Decals
7) MAAAAYBE Altezza style tail-lights
(other stuff I wanted was a chrome pontiac plate, Grand Am liscence plate frame, Grand Am Parking Only sign)

What do you guys think...? Any suggestions? Again, the car is a black 2004 GT sedan.

i personally think the blue tint is going to be 1.) overkill with blue 2.) look gaudy 3.) colored tint usually dont last very long because of the amount of dye they have to use.

and for everyone that has headlight covers and complain about the night driving is because you're supposed to take them off at night. well technically you're not even supposed to have them on while you're on public roads. i used to have some on my truck but they were super duper easy to take off/ put on.

and vanishing, more of my opinion here, dont do the projector headlight cover look please. your car looks clean with the clear corners. i think the projector imitations make the car look cheap. real projectors look pretty pimp though.

black outs are legal on public roads in colorado if you have your fogs on... and driving by fogs isnt too bad once you get used to it but is kinda tricky some times i had to pull up on the side walk once because i followed the paint on the street and turned left where the was no turn... so my options were pull it up on the side walk or get hit by on coming traffic... i felt stoopid but i mosty blame my tint for that (30%) and i still haven't upgraded my fogs yet but there next...

are you sure? or is that just what someone told you? i didn't think they were legal in any state. it even says on the box when you buy them they are for show and off road use only. i just can't imagine what the colorado state police are thinking by allowing them to be legal. look at your incident. you could have run over someone on that sidewalk because you can't see because your headlights are covered. 30% isn't dark enough to hinder your vision that much. if it was 10 or 5% i would say maybe. i'm not saying you're wrong, im just using logical thinking. the factory fog lights dont give off enough light (by themselves) to help wipe your ass. :P

I have the GTS and my fogs are way brighter than my headlights. I only take them off if I know im going to drive somewhere Im not familiar with the road. Other than that I just leave them on all the time.

The tint for the windows aren't actually 100% blue... lol... I guess I'll try to be as specific as possible... they work almost like a prism or a type of sheer-like tint... they're black and under certain light, they look blue. ^^;

Hm... Maybe a custom grill to replace the tint?

ccar, if your foglights are brighter than your headlights you have some electrical problems

They are only brighter because of the headlight covers. The headlights are brighter when the covers are off.

We have headlight covers on our black GA.
On black or dark cars I think the light covers look great.
We leave ours on night or day. Around the city its fine with the stock driving lights and light covers on. But out in the back roads it can become a pain in the butt, espeically in the rain. In the winter time we remove them and put them away for spring.

If you do get a set I would suggest trying to find a set of GTS covers. Hard to find since they are no longer made but they stay on a better than the others that stick on with velrco.

03xGAxSE, do you have any wide-angle front shots of your car, with the hood down? I've got a white, 99 GT, just wondering how good it'd look on a white car. Darker cars have little problem pulling the look off, espescially black GA's.

I'm considering getting covers (at least temporarily), since the turn signal eyebrow seems pretty complex to install.

I used to work at a custom vehicle place in milw a few yrs back. i bought the blackouts from gts for the headlights and taillights on my 80 Z28. i took the headlight ones off the first time i drove it at night. the taillight covers got removed the time i got rear ended on the freeway by a sm forien car. never put them back on ever again. granted the newer cars have the brighter lights, but i will still stay without on the grand am.
