i messed up my flush mount tv glove box lid last night (it was really late :P ) so i was up at my car audio place seeing if there was a way to salvage it (there is and pics are coming when it gets done :D ) and i was looking at some of their radios. i talked to the owner and he said he would trade me my excelon 469 and X87 excelon 10 disc changer for an alpine 7897 headunit. what do ya'll think?

i'm getting this http://www.crutchfield.com/S-PNInVzPlgqf/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=500CDA7897 .

in exchange for these http://www.crutchfield.com/S-S8kCkx56dHV/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=113KDCX469 and http://www.crutchfield.com/S-S8kCkx56dHV/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=600&I=113KDCCX87&o=m&a=0&cc=01&avf=N

ya'll think he should be kissing me or is it a good deal? he wanted my stuff and a $100, but the merchandise hasn't changed hands yet. i'm gonna hit him up and see if he'll trade me heads up

I checked that deck out when I was looking into my 7894 and I just thought it was too big in my dash, so I didn't go with it. Other than that, that freaking deck has sooooo many different options to play with, it's nuts. I say that you tell him it's a straight up trade because your excelon and that changer easily equal that headunit

its a cool head unit but, much higher and than your excelon, but its a discontinued stereo. is it new or also someones trade in? make sure its brand new, otherwise its not worth it. the motors on that face can go out, and being used, it could alreayd be rebuilt. we had to send in two demo units of those to get the motor replaced.

I'm not exactly sure what's going on with my 7894 right now, but it seems like whenever it's cold (the headunit itself) that it's not getting a good enough connection from the faceplate to the actual deck, and the deck won't respond... All it does is change colors, not show any text on the screen, turn off... crap like that. I'm thinking of bringing into Circuit City to see wtf is up, but they don't carry that HU anymore, and they don't make any that have the amber buttons to match our dashes anymore... If it's broke and I need a new one, I don't want to switch to a different brand.

theres new ones coming out next month that change to amber again. it sounds like you just need to clean the contacts off. that might fix it.

no, it's brand new. i'm kinda looking around to see if i can find someone to buy her headunit and 10 disc combo for $500 and then just buy that stereo. i thought since everyone is getting their taxes back it wouldn't be that hard, but no luck yet
