I just got my radar detector today and since my cig lighter doesnt work i need to hard wire it. Now the problem is there is a fuse in the adapter. I am thinking Ill have to buy a wire with an inline fuse. Can someone hook me up with a how-to on hardwiring the radar detector?

Too bad I dont know how good it works. I thought my version had a strobe alert to alert me if there was like an emergency vehicle with its lights on and I passed a cop on the interstate pulled someone over with its lights on and it didnt do anything.

You can buy an inline fuse from auto zone. If you dont know which wire is power, and which is ground, all you have to do is open the plug up, and the wire that is connected to the tip of the plug is the power. The one that is connected to the metal piece on the side is the ground. Tap into an ignition wire or something.
Sorry if it doesn't make sense. Can't think of how to explain it.
Check the fuses for your ciggerette lighter too.

I have it all done. My cig lighter doesnt work because I clipped the wires to power my int. lights. I dont smoke anyways. I have it all hardwired and working, Saturday im hooking it to a switch. Even though it is the cheapest and lowest class radar detector, it beeped like a mile b4 I saw a cop tonight and was going crazy as I was passing him.
