Fixing my loud exhaust?

my new exhaust is too loud...what can i do to fix it?
i was thinkin maybe different tips would help or maybe a resonator? anyone know where i could pick up a resonator?

If you put in a system with no resonator, that would be my first suggestion. Should be cheap to do. Tips won't make a difference. Midas can put in a generic resonator for you. Almost any muffler shop should be able to.

even if he did take off the resonator i don't think it would have made it much louder,i took mine off when i got new 2.25 inch piping in and my exhaust didn't really get much louder when i just had stock piping and my old fart canon on.But yea try putting on a resonator if you don't have one on there anymore,but since i didn't notice much difference(same engine and car) on mine,but i like loud exhausts,well loud and deep.

well this on is deff loud...its like baaa until about 2k rpms then BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA and dies off around 5k....way too loud for me...it did give it a lil more pep tho.
guess i'll try the resonator....i dunno....:???:

Yes, putting a resonator in will help mellow it out. Best place, right after the cat. Some have used Cherry bombs, or other small & long glasspacks.


Tips are 99% for looks, won't do much for sound.

Question: What is the new exhaust you had put on? A custom cat-back? Stock factory-type replacements? Performance mufflers? Maybe they just screwed up the install.

i had 2.5 inch piping put on from the downpipe back, magnaflow high flow cat, 2 street sweepers (regular mufflers, not cans) then straight chrome tips...the install looks great i saw it on the lift and everything...so i dont think thats the prob...its just too loud

OK. Try a resonator. Might just do the trick. If not, I would say it is the mufflers - too straight flow maybe.

thats a possiblity,if the mufflers had no chambers what so ever,hell they might even be glass pack mufflers,still OEM style but packed,but yea deffly try the resonator first,its the cheapest thing and should be tried first b4 changing everything else.
