Alright, so this friday i'm getting my Alpine Type X (SPX-137a) components installed. I was wondering what i should do next, I'm getting all alpine stuff. 6x9's/Headunit/Amp. Now i have a little mtx amp pushing 35x2 right now and i have 6x9's/headunit. What should i get next?
Here's what i'm getting (not in any order)
Alpine Type R 2-way 6x9's
Alpine Headunit (somewhere around $200)
Alpine 4 Channel 300w 40x4 amp.
i want to make everything match because having a bass engine headunit and base engine ready speakers should be pretty cool.
alright let me know what you think

Good thinking by keeping everything the same brand, always sounds much better than mixing and matching. Your amp will hold their own with all your speakers. Now, for a headunit, you might as well go as close to $200 as you can, and this is it http://www.crutchfield.com/S-m3BXIVw0SvW/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=300&I=500CDA9825&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N
but, I say that you save up another 75 bucks and get this one, http://www.crutchfield.com/S-m3BXIVw0SvW/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=3&g=300&I=500CDA9827&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N
You'll love that you can play MP3's... It's seriously the best feature of my HU.

what do you mean by it will hold its own? i couldn't very well run that tiny amp through my whole car. i'm getting one 4 chan amp to run components/6x9's
thanks for the headunit recommendations!

That's what I meant, just for your speakers. If you get subs, then you're going to need another amp.

That's totally up to you. I know that you're doing this in steps, so it's either get some good sounding speakers, or get a nice headunit. Either way you go, you're gonna love it, but crave that next step... That's how I was when I first started into car audio... Always wanting something bigger and better :D

I really liked teh alpine headunits, but i ended up getting a kenwood, why, because the features in it, and the sound quality is close but not as good. However, alot will depend on the amps that you are running at the time.

theres absolutely no reason to run all one brand, actually, its more common to mix the brands up. very few companies can make more than one type of product int he same quality category. IE: kenwood and pioneer make great head units, but pioneer cant make a decent amp and kenwood cant make a decent speaker. if you wanted a TOP of the line system, nothing would be the same brand. NOBODY makes top of the line everything.

im with dave. alpine does a pretty good job though :P. they make a real good headunit and their speakers are pretty good. not the best in the world, but definately better than some.
