Ok i have a 93 grand am with a 2.3L SOHC. Yes the cruddy engine....

Would putting a flowmaster 40 series on it cause me to lose to much back pressure or would it be all good and just make it sound better.

would it sound like a ricer or would it be a deeper sound?

The 40 series is a 2-chamber design. You may not like the sound. I would suggest the 50 series (3 chamber) or a straight-thru steel/glass packed muffler. (such as Borla, Dynomax, etc)

well you'll lose more backpressure with the straight through design. i've got a 40 series on my fiance's 2.4 and i like the sound of it. not ricey at all

So long as there is a cat installed, I would not worry about muffler design affecting backpressure.
