fog light question

ok here's my question has anyone used the factory switch for their fog lights to wire aftermarket fog lights?

Yes, but only to activate the aftermarket fog relay. Main power for the fogs come direct from battery. Reason... most aftermarket fogs exceed the current draw from the weak stock ones, but the stock circuit is excellent to use for the relay coil.

Yup. If your aftermarket fogs have a diagram and come with a switch (most do) - substitute the factory switch wire instead of the switch from the aftermarket fogs.

cool. thanks i'm looking at some apc angel eyes that have glow rings that youcan change the colors on.now another question for you. by going from the switch to the fog lights, will this take the fog lights off the drl system??

I would recommend the Optilux/Hella 2500 angel eye's over the APC. (APC = teh ghetto gayness)

I don't know about the DRL. Any 99+ guys wanna chime in? If it's wired like my 94, 95 (fog off during high-beam) then it prolly won't.

the only reason i was going to go with the apc is because the glow ring color can be changed and with my new body kit it would tight with the red.

fogs aren't on with DRL's on 99+, but come on automatically when reg. headlights turn on. I other words, you can't turn em on or off unless you turn on the regular headlights...

Yea, no fogs with drls.

However, I have my optilux angel eyes wired up using the stock system. No issues to date.

now when you say you are using the stock system what do you mean? do you mean you just took out your old ones and spliced in the angel eyes?

Yea. I have the fogs running off the stock system, and the angel eyes, spliced into that usless light in the headlamp assembly.

I didn't add in any relay, or other wiring.
