Well heres what ive got (some of it coming in)

Kenwood excelon 579 headunit (a little dissapointed like alpines sound better but liked the kenwood price)

MB quart rsc 213 components for up front (im really afraid im goign to **** up this install wish me luck)

Pioneer 4 ways in the back (they are old and from my old car, but they still sound good, havent decided wether to run these off the headunit, or 3 way the amp)

Infinity kappa 12 inch sub, i like the infinity sound, yea i could go for more power, but i was on a limited budget

one new ppi pcx 480 (4* 80 watt rated at 12 volts i believe)

http://www.precisionpower.com/amps/pcx480.asp

right now im planning to put the amp in a 3 way configuration that is front and rear speakers on each side in paralle therefore creating a 2 ohm load, and then bridging the rear 2 channels and running my sub off them.

depending on how much i need fade, i may disconnect the rear speakers, or run the rears off my headunit, that is until i can afford another amp. (That ppi is not cheap i didnt get a refurb because i was worried about it breaking and i dont have the money to fix)

any suggestions and advice will be warmly accepted, especially hints about wiring.

Im a electrical engineering student at nc state so i have some skills with it, but experience is something i lack. I figure ill run the 4 gague power line on the left hand of the car, and then ground it to a seatbelt thingy, then ill run my rca and stuff on the right, i plan on using the wiring aready in the vehicle.

a couple of questions,

would it pay off to rewire all the speakers

and what gague wire should i run to my sub, and what gague wire for my speakers.

in any case i picked up alot of good advice on this board, please wish me luck.

1.) you might or might not notice a difference. but i would do it if i were you
2.) i use 10 ga. speaker wire to the amp and 14 for the the rest

the amp wants minimum 6 gauge, and since im going to be running it close to 640 watts i dont think 10 gauge would be a good idea.

by saying 1 would be a good idea, do you mean it would be a good idea to run the rears off the headunit or in parallel with the fronts and loose fade but give the fronts and the rears 80 watts per speaker

how are you running those wattages off a single amp?

i use 10 gauge speaker wire from the amp to the sub is what i meant.

i would run them in parallel. i thought you meant run all new speaker wire instead of using the factory.

can't tell ya how i do....i'd have to kill ya :P. naw, i have a friend that's an electronics whiz. he worked them over for me
