As most know, I trashed my car, that resulted in new headlight and fog on the left side, and they therefor returned the entire front of my car electrically back to factory standards. So here's what I did For my past warning lights project, CLICK HERE (http://www.gaownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18572)
OK so I reinstalled a pair of the Hella Angel Eye Driving Lights in place of the factory fogs, and wired them to come on with the stock switch. I wired in the alternating headlight flasher, and then put the strobe lights in the front headlights. Real Police Power. Then I got bored.. So what I wanted to do was have the fog lights work normaly, AND flash with the headlights when they alternate... so here's how i did that. As we know we have Ground Side switching.. so that that Headlight flasher does is Nothing normaly, until i turn it on, and it provides a ground for the headlights alternatetly.. that's cool, but it posed a problem with making the fogs flash, which were positevly switched. So With the help of 2 SPDT relays, i wired it so that when the relays are off, the grounds are routed to the chassy, like normal. When i energize the relays, it routed the ground for each fog light seperatetly (hence the 2 relays) to the High Beam headlight ground on that side of the car. So then, when the left headlight is provided a High Beam Ground by the flasher, it also provides a ground for that fog light, and they flash together... I can at any point shut those relays back off and alow the healights to still alternate, which gives me 1) good light to see with fronm the fogs, and 2) better warning power, so i can shut off my low beams and alow just the high beams to work (Looks better if the high beams arent flashing over the low beams, more "contrast").... It looks great
Many will ask why i didnt have the left fog and right headlight alternate.. i did actualyy wire as such, but i then put them on and took a walk down my street, and from 100ft away and further, its too hart to tell whats giong on, and it looks like somone is jsut flashing their high beams, so i wasn't getting enough warning power from far away, now with high beams and those ultra bright Hella driving lights, I get immence light and it's clear that the lights are going from side to side, not being generated by somone pulling that lever in and out..
Also i changed the pattern, before it did left right left right left right and slowly got faster and slower. There's jumpers (little wires to cut and splice on the flasher), and i set it to do this
Left Right Left Right Left Left Right Right Left Left Right Right Left Right Left Right so on and so on, a cool rotating pattern...
