Monsoon

Just got a 99' SE today. It already has an aftermarket deck installed. How can I tell if it has the monsoon stuff? And what exactly comes with a monsoon system, is it just a seperate amp?
From what I know already it sounds like a way for the factory to make it difficult for owners to expand there systems.

I'm almost positive that the SE's did not come with Monsoon systems as an option, I think it was just the GT's. They came with a factory amp mounted in the trunk in the driver side corner.

monsoon was not out on 99-00. The 99-00 are the easies to work on when putting in a stereo cause it uses gm's old style wiring system. Now the 99-00 did have a upgrade (the name slips my mind it 1:24am) The way to tell if your car had it is to look at the back 6x9 and see if they are dual input,or see if there is a amp in the side of the trunk. Most like you just had a delco system.
