View Full Version : just picked up 2k monsoon HU. Pinout please?
Could someone post the pinout of the 2000 Monsoon HU, please? The one in the FAQ is for the Amp and doesn't show the power feeds and "extra" wires.
TIA
Bob

Neither of those is correct for the head unit. Those are diagrams/pinouts for the amplifier. The first one shows most of the HU, but about 5 to 6 wires are not accounted for.
I guess I should ask, is the pinout of the head unit the same for a Monsoon and standard unit?

how about this?
Thanx Rocket. I have seen that, and tried using it, but the radio is not functioning correctly based on that. It ate a cd, but won't eject. I don't get anything on the display screen, yet all the lights work. It's like a wire or two is missing or in the wrong spot.
Also, on that last diagram, what is "park" used for? And, does it need all three "IGN" sources? My stock harness only had 1.

the monsoon is not like any other head united, they say it will only work with the car it came with. It also relies on the BCM to work I believe. I see you have a older car, your best bet is to get a aftermarket one. I know you probably wanted a factory look
I kind of went through this once already with a VIN coded Montana unit. It acts totally different than this one. A VIN coded unit will work as long as you don't try to start the vehicle. This one does nothing. I tried it in my Montana, too.
BTW, I tried all three ACC leads. It still does nothing. Gee, it looks like my Wayne's World CD is gone now.:roll2:
Yes, this is going into an older vehicle. It's an '84 Fiero. Yes, I know what you're thinking, but this Fiero is getting a '98 3800SC for go, and a 2001 GAGT interior for show. Here's my build thread: http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/043545.html

once you get the dash working you might want to swap it out for a GT gauges. They go 150. They are plug and play
To answer my own question, I'm pretty certain that the pinouts are identical. The HU I just picked up does not work. I've swapped the component peices onto a radio that does work and compared the circuit boards. Everything is the same except for the Monsoon logo on the cassette door. Looks like I was ripped off by a fellow member here. :???:

... as far as I know, a Monsoon radio will not work on a non-Monsoon equipment car as the radio is 'keyed' to the computer system in the car :(
