Can anyone give me some ideas for mount my Infinity Tweeters in the stock tweeter location? I've got the Infinity 5000cs component system. Any help would be a appreciated. Thanks!

what excactly are you asking for? ways to mount the tweeters in there? i just recommend breaking the tabs off and using silicone to seal them in there.

Will the silicone damage or break down the material in the tweeter?

I'd use hot glue instead of silicon...I've used hot glue on pretty much all my stock tweeter replacements with infinitys like your using.

hot glue wont work out here. wher emy dad lives (palm springs) it gets up to about 135 degrees in the summer, inside the car reaches temps at about 200 degrees, enough to melt hot glue and free up the tweeter. that happened to me when i had my Boston speakers.

silicone wont damage anything AND wont melt under any temp.

I guess temps in Pennsylvania are a little different than in sol cal. lol

Good luck with leater seats out there! lol Time to wear kevlar underware!

Or, you could do what I did and flush-mount the tweets... Pick up a pair of blank sail panels (w/o the factory tweets). They're less than $10 each. Then, use a hole-saw to drill the proper size hole, and flush mount the tweets according to the manufacturer's directions. That way you do not destroy the $80 (Each!) factory sail panels should you ever wish to return the car to stock, and it only cost you $15-$20.

Where could I pick up said black sail panels? GM Dealership? Junkyard? Both?

Thanks

GM dealerships have them, not a big deal. You can try a junk year, but Grand Ams wthat have the same color interior as you and also don't have the factory tweeters are a little hard to find, at least around here. :)

LOL, I know what ya mean, Dave! :D

yeah, when i picked up emily's car from the shop after they installed her box and components i about sh*t all over my self. they cut a hole right above components (in the carpet) and mounted the tweeter there. but i imagine when/if emily gets rid of the car it won't be driveable, so if they're worried about a little whole in the carpet on the door they have issues :P.......same goes for the box that takes up almost the entire trunk
