OK, I'm looking for a suggestion on speakers for my pickup.
The stock speakers are 4x6s in the dash and 6.5s in the doors.
I do not need mega high-end equipment, I'm just looking to make it clear. I'll be running it all off the stock headunit too.
I'm looking at brands like Pioneer and Kenwood for components with crossovers/filters and maybe a single cone for the 4x6 or a two way if I have to.
All in all I don't want to spend over $300, and the cheeper the better. So where does everyone find good deals on audio online.

Infinity's Reference Series is good quality, and decent price. You can probably stick to your budget if you go through ebay.

yep, infinity reference are decent speakers. Also, depending on teh price, the low end JL's and Alpine type-S also sound nice.

for places to shop i used sounddomain.com for all my stuff. they match sites that are cheap but you still get the factory warranty. thats why i picked them.

for the 4x6 i have alpine plates in my truck. they're a 4" component set mounted on a 4x6 plate that goes into the factory hole. they sound good too. as for 6.5s you could easily spend the 300 budget on those alone.

well a I spoke to a friend of min ewho used to work in several car audio places and now a manager at a big chain store. He admitted to me that they dont carry the high end gear that he wishes he did, but he can get me some decent Kenwoods for a very nice price so I think I might go with those.

id agree with the infinity recommendations, id avoid kenwood. i havnt been happy with kenwood.

a quick note, id disconnect the 4x6 speakers and just spend the 300 on the 6.5" speakers. 4x6s dont sound very good, esp if you divert your money between them and the 6.5s.

I agree with Dave, John. I say go flat out and spend all your budget on some very kick ass 6x9's. You'll be much happier with the sound of those than with having to spend half on one set and half on the other. Plus, if you do get some kick ass, high-end 6x9's, you can always add an amp later on to make them sound even better.

I agree. Forget about the 4x6" in the dash, and spend what you can on a good set of 6.5" components or coxials for the doors. I think you'll be much happier in the end. :)

My problem is that the speakers in there (stock or otherwise) are terrible. I really do not have the money to spend on speakers right now, so the cheeper the better. I wish I could afford a kickin setup but I have other thigns that rank over the speakers. First off our club trailer is getting a make over, new paint, custom LED tail and clearance lights, diamond plating, new tires, etc. Among that, the meet coming up and stuff fo rmy bike. I also have to get a trailer hitch and replace my ZQ8 Bilstein shocks with airshocks so I can tow the trailer. Not happy about that at all. :(

So I guess you can say cheep is the key word here.

I might go with these, my friend can get them for $74 for me.

If you're on a budget, those should sound a lot better than stock, John.

I'd say try those out John, they will likely improve the sound alot, maybe leave the 4x6's hooked up and see how it sounds with those new speakers installed, then try without the 4x6's connected and just the new speakers and see which setup sounds better, id say the stock 4x6's will do deent high range for ya still..

the infinity reference speakers are down to 79.99 at circuit city and are WAY WAY WAY better than those kenwoods. take it from me, i sell them both and its a hands down situation.

... if you end up changing your speakers John, give me first dibs on your factory dash speakers as I have one that I 'think' is on the way out :(
