Ok by late spring-early summer I plan on having a LCD screen.I hope to add in my PS2.Now I know I'll need a power inverter for it to turn on and off. What else will I need to hook everything up? I have the Pioneer DEH-6400 head unit. So what other things will I need to hook these up?

does your headunit have aux input? if not you'll need an fm modulator. fm modulator, power inverter, ps2, and that's really about it. i have a relay on my inverter. the actual inverter stays on all the time, but the relay has a remote wire that kicks it on/off with the stereo. i got it for free, but you could get one for about $10.

I'll have to look at it again, but I belive i saw the AUX in the menu for an option.

well like my kenwood has an aux input and that eliminated the need for an fm modulator. i know of people having bad luck with fm modulators, so i was pleased :). if you can get one for your deck i would say get one

You don't realyl need a power inverter...the PS2 is actually set up to run off DC current, but has a built in DC to AC converter inside. If you feel like taking it apart you can wire it directly with out adding an inverter, but it can be a pain....plus you void the warranty once its opened.
Its kinda funny....everything is pretty clearly marked on the board inside. lol
On the 6400...does it have 2 sets of RCA pre outs? if it does chances are one set can be changed to be an AUX by going into the functions on the deck....Usualyl its done by going into the menu you use to set your clock. With the radio off you can toggle between certain settings. If your familliar with how to set your clock you should know what I'm talking about. I could probably be a little clearer with this, but things haven't bee goignthat great for me with a few things...bare with me :/
but anywho...best of luck to ya. Let us know if we can be of any more help

yeah, you don't want to use a modulator if you dont need to and be real choosy where you mount your invertor. those things can give you some NASTY sounding motor noise if you aint careful. :)
i know how ya feel steve, things aren't going to peachy in Mattville either.

for the inverter, would under the seat be good place? I have my music and stuff turned up pretty good, well and my exhaust sounds pretty loud on the inside of the car as well. The on problem I think I'll have is where to put the PS2 without having it totally noticible.Maybe making some kind of shelf under the glove box area,my friend did one for his 95 b4 he sold it and from the outsite of the car it was kind of hard to see plus he totally enclosed it with some thin metal rods, except where the controlers plugged into.

under the seat would be a good place. again, just keep the power wire away from source carrying wires and you'll be fine.

dude, modifiy your glove box, or take it apart first.. you will be amazed of the room in there! plenty to go around...but before i put mine in there, it was on the floor in the back, and just stuffed the inverter under the seat, and took apart the cupholder to house the wires... (who uses those anyways?) then ya can hide the video wire under the center console up to your screen... if ya can spare it, id get the monster power cords because they are sheilded... i did and noticed a better picture while the car was running (engine noise)
yes you can hardwire it, but if yoiu use it in your house then its pointless, plus, you can use the inverter for a vcr or laptop as well, so id use an inverter, i hve my inverter on a toggle switch so i can turn it off w/out unplugging it, or if a po po gets near i can flick it off..
a modulator is ok, but will never sound as good as a line level from the source...
if you want it be hella pimp, you can get a digital processor so you can have 5.2 dolby digital... but would need an center speaker... my roomie had this in his satty and it was insane... but it will sound good w/ out it.

Yea im still thinking of different places to mount the PS2,as for the glove box I don't use other then for my proof of insurance thing and just some back up replacement bulbs and one or two screw drivers,So i might use that and just put the stuff in the center flip up cubby.

it was also gonna make a braket so it can fit up under the passanger dash... its a nice place and out of sight... but a custom bracket has to be made...

The glove box can be easily modified on the 96-98 to make it fit but just have to figure out exactly how you want it to fit in there b4 you go doing stuff so you dont' mess up and have to buy a new glove box,but most likely the PS2 will go in there now.

if you need rca inputs for sound you can buy a peice that plugs into the back on your deck and it gives up inputs.. i did that with mine.. i paid 40 dollars for it i think, all i do is go into functions turn the aux on and after its plugged in its good for sound..

i have an alpine deck and i had to buy what is called an ai-net cable which basically plugs into the bottom of the head unit, and has two male rca's coming out, then i bought 2 female rca's to a headphone jack, this way i can hook up my laptop and have a 17" lcd screen for movies. /spit on 7inch lcd's lol. good luck.
