Is replacing the heater core gonna be a nasty job? I dont care if its time consuming, i am just wondering if its gonna be hard...or if a weekend warrior mechanic can do it...i'm never had to fix one so i'm was just gonna do it, but i'd kinda like to know what i'm getting in to. i was just gonna bypass it but it still gets kinda cold where i live...so thats not an option

Just flush all the green out and when you are ready to refill, check the capacity of the system and fill half that amount with coolant. Add water last so any water left in the system just adds into the 50/50 mix.

If the blower works on the other settings, I would suspect a dirty contact. Try cycling the switch to see if it wipes the corrosion off the contacts.
