For anyone of you with a 92-98 4 door, can you measure your factory sunroof? I need to know the size of the glass, and how far back it is from the front windshield.
Thanks!!!
I'll try to do that for you by tomorrow, Dallas. Rokay?

That'd be great!
BTW, I know had exhaust put on your car quite a while back, right? How's it holding out?

I'd would imagine it is, I'll have BBT to make sure. Either way, if you have measurements handy, I'd apprecriate it!

What exactly do you need? The glass measurements or the measurements of the actual opening? There's weather stripping around the glass that adds an extra 1/4" or so on each end. And I also believe there's no difference in size between the 2 door and 4 door sunroofs.

Mainly just size of the glass. I'm looking into putting in a factory sunroof, but I'm worried about the bracing in the roof. I know the size is the same on 2 and 4 doors, but I'm interested to know how far back it sets on a 4 door. Same maybe?

Just got off the phone with Pontiac and there's no difference between the sizes of 2 and 4 door sunroofs.
Dallas - got your measurements. Sorry took so long, somebody borrowed my tape measure, and didn't put it back.
Anyway - from windshield at centre it is 7 7/8 inches to the cut in the roof, and thats from where the roof meets the windshield moulding. Not including the moulding itself, just the painted metal part of the roof.
21 3/16 inches front to rear
27 1/4 inches side to side.
Those last measurements are of the opening, not the glass, as it has a moulding and I might not get that accurate.
Hope this is the info you wanted.
As for the exhaust I had on my car, except for the stainless tips, as of this morning it no longer exists.
February 2003, the Ravin' performance mufflers (purchased for about $140 each and installed) were replaced by Midas lifetime mufflers. The Ravin's had rotted out in less than 2 years.
The custom piping that was done for the install, cracked at the 'Y' over the winter and I had it all replaced by stock Midas piping just this morning, along with 2 new Midas lifetime mufflers. System is very quiet.
While I was initially very happy with the install, I will never do that again unless I can get some kind of guarantee and at a better cost. The whole thing cost me something in the $900 range when first done, and didn't last even 2 years. Repeated e-mails to Ravin' got me no response. Lousy product and customer service.

Thanks for those measurements, they will help alot!
Sounds like my case with the exhaust... I remember getting my Flowmasters about the same time as you, and they rotted out too!!! On top of that, the cat is starting to go out too. So it looks like i'll be getting new exhaust too.
At least my cat hasn't been a problem. Today was $400 for all new pipes, which inlcuded a built-in resonator. Sure is quiet. Almost too quiet.
Anyway, good luck with getting a sunroof done. How is that you are getting a factory sunroof done almost 10 years after the car left the factory?

You can get a good used factory sunroof from online scrap dealers for about $100. It's the entire set up (You'll probably have to get the motor switch and harnesses from the dealer). I just got finished putting a sunroof from a wrecked/scraped '98 into my car because the track on my old one bit the dust. Cost me a total of $107 after tax, a trip to Tampa to pick it up, and a couple of evenings working at a leisurely pace to put it in. And the new(er) one works like a champ.
Anyway, check out Car Parts.com (http://www.car-parts.com). That's where I find most of my big ticket replacement parts.
Yeah, but Dallas' car didn't have a sunroof to start with, I don't believe. Sounds like yours did. May make a difference installing it.
I wish him luck.
