So i have a pioneer DEH-P3500 and i was wondering something

how come their treble settings go 3k 8k 10k 12k while the alpine 9825 goes 10kHz, 12.5kHz, 15kHz, or 17.5kHz,

what kind of difference is there between the 2 units ?

all units are different as far as specs go, so dont expect the exact same features ;)

I know with pioneer, those Q factor settings are a *based* setting, meaning that the specified frequency is where the overall slope will be centered, but you will still get other frequencies near that base frequency depending upon what you set your slope width like......i.e:

2Wide>1Wide>1Narrow>2Narrow

the settings you mentioned on the Alpine seem to high to be based frequencies. I would say that theyre probably high pass cutoffs, meaning that no frequency above tha point will be heard, but as always, read you manual for specific information :)

I beleive the alpine is acually based frequencies, as you call them, also. Some companies think the public like different things then others. I think the Alpines settings are to high, but some people like that sizzling tweeter sound. Peace, Lee

alpines just ahve more range to them. keep in mind that in addition to increasing power to those frequencies, you can also drop it, so thus eliminating "sizzling tweeters" if thats how your speakers play (MB Quart, etc)

are you talking at the head unit dave, or the component att. at the aftermarket crossovers?

and if its at the head unit, are you telling me that one can adjust the DB setting of the specific frequency?

I ask because I dont have experience with alpine head units
