2 ohms will give more power to the subs from the amp

in all technicality it doesnt matter. but he's right, a 2 ohm sub will get more power from the amp.

the aforementioned IS true, however with a lowered impedance you will have MORE THD (noise) and higher thermal results from the amplifier

some things to remember, it all depends on your application

ok well heres the application... I dont want alot of "hear me coming down the block" thing.... I just want a little more bass to get the lows.. so basically I am thinking about just buying (2) MTX thunder 4000 10's at 200 Watts a piece, nothing huge, and with a 250 Watt Sony Xplode amp so its pushing 125 to each sub... Thats all Im using it for... I dont want the huge pounding bass just a little more than my factory 6x9's with amp...

it depends on how it(or they) are wired, and what the amp is capable of doing

its the problem i'm having, the sub i want doesn't come in a dual 2 ohm version, and i don't wanna run the amp in 4 ohm mode cuz it won't put out much power and i don't wanna run it in 1 ohm cuz i don't wanna fry the amp

K i got my situation set...

I ended up getting...

2 Mtx thunder 6000 10" 300 Watt RMS

in a Dual 10" enclosed box

with a Sony Xplode 300 Watt 2 channel amp..

Good enough for me...

Yea, a lot of people have that problem when they get 4ohm DVC subs. I recommend them to get a 2 channel amp that handle 2 ohms bridged. If gives you more options.

if youre running a pair of subs then you have some things to look at.

1) its a sony amp, so dont run it under 4 ohms, therefore a pair of 2 ohm subs is optimal.

2) you dont need it loud, so you can eliminate the 4 ohm subs since youll yield 2 ohms (in parallel) versus the recommended 2 ohm subs which yeild 4 ohms (in series).

i hope thats what you ended up doing.

well I didnt hook anything up yet so I will keep that in consideration... Thank you
