All right, this is my first Grand Am, and my first GM product since my first car, a 1981 Skylark. One thing I noticed is the automatic headlights after dark-- they come on whether the switch is on or not. I start the car, if it's dark the headlamps come on (and marker lights, tail lights, etc. -- not just the daytime running lamps). My question is, is this normal? If it's dark and the key is on, I cannot shut off the headlights. During the day it's just the daytime running lamps, and I can turn on the headlights with the switch if I choose.

It's a 2000 SE2 with a ton of miles (114000).

Thanks!
Chris

Not only normal but a highly desired feature in some circles.

I just wasn't sure. I have a friend with a '96 GT that only does this if you leave the headlight switch on so I thought there may be a relay problem.
Thanks!

hmm.. a 96GT should be the same way as yours.. unless maybe he disabeled the sensor? Or maybe his sensor is broken?
