Could be a loose or broken vacuum line, leaking charcoal canister, plugged vent line fom engine back to tank.
Don't know your engine (not in your profile), but it doesn't matter since I don't know much about this system for any of the engines. :D :D

my 2.4 has a small vaccuum leak in a piece of galvanized tubing that runs aloung the pass sied of the engine bay
evap codes are a pain in the a$$ to deal with
its a big trial and error thing
we took a "smoke machine" to find my leak
it puts a small amount of smoke unser a certain psi to locate leaks in your evap system
it took me 3 tips to my mechanic (whom is my best friend) to figure this one out
good luck to you these arent any fun

ok new symptoms...if i accelerate slowly it does fine but if i try to gas it like of the line it shudders...i swear it feals like something is clogged cuz it feels like the harder i push it it finally breaks thru what ever is blocking it....i've tried fuel injector cleaner and seemed to do better but then went back to crappy. IF something is blocked from the sounds and the feel of the car it seems to come from the back of the car. need some real help here guys i used to have a67 vw that i could get by w/ working on but when it comes to newer models im kinda dense. i wanna learn how to take car of my baby again 96 grand am se 2.4 liter and a 4 cyl

Any chance one of your rear brakes are sticking really bad?

i had this problem too. First time my car used to shake so they cleaned my fuel injectors.
when problem came back (btw exact same code as yours) they did some other replacements... I'll check with dealer tomorrow and post up what it was exactly they did.

Start checking from the PCV valve - replace if old - (they are cheap to buy) then look for a cracked vacumm line leaving that PCV and going to Evap solonoid. Then while engine is running take off the PCV and touch it to see if it has strong suction pulses. Now put it back and trace from the Evap solonoid the vacumm line leaving and going to the evap canister. Often the heat will crack a vacumm line has it becomes brittle especially at the connections on the underside. You will also notice an Evap troubleshooting valve cap (green) that allows vacumm gauge testing of the system. You can also put some smoke from a can into the PCV valve hose and see if you can see smoke leaking somewhere.
I am surprised that no code has showed up. Make sure to scan for pending (non MIL) codes.

I would put my money on a bad fuel filter to begin with.
Is this the only tank of gas that it has done it on? If so you may have gotten a tank tainted gas.
do you always by your gas at the same station? Try a different station and higher octane.
This is where I would start.
