Sounds like a problem with the switches in the door jamb not working properly.

Are you sure the headlight switch isn't turned on?

Sounds like the ingition switch itself is the failure point. DId you try jiggling the key, lubing the ignition cylinder?
As a last resort, you could always disconnect the small wire going into the ingnition key-in switch.

I did that at least 5 times already, but it only blew my fuse. No chime side-effects.

mine does it occasionally when its raining. It'll chime 5 times after the door has been closed then stop. Dry days it never happens

Disables key-in chime, since it no longer knows when the key is in.
