the Streetglow Gold series is the brightest neon available, except for maybe the ICELED kit from oznium.com LED's aren't brighter the streetglow ones are about the same as the Gold series

Keep in mind LEDs are directional. In other words, they have to be aimed at the street at the right angle. Neon glows uniformly from the tube.

Gold series is FROM streetglow. i have them in red, and i must say, it all depends on color. in red id get LED, but any other color id get Stretglow Gold series.
if you get Gold series get em at www.sounddomain.com and youll get the best deal around from an authorized dealer.

hmm... ok, my led kit was 125, and i know thats cheap to you, but yoiu know what? and led is an led either way, cheap or not, led's will last forever... my kit has 7 colors, i got a thread on gagt that ill link below and you can see what i mean, plus, i can put up to 6 tubes on my kit and i made the inside of my car glow the same color as the outside, for all 7 colors! plus, led's do patterns, i can make my car spin like a top! LOL, but yeah, led's r directional, so i got mine angled out to shine far outside the car, who wants the center of the car to light up? to me thats wasted light, i want it all projecting as far out as possible,
reason for led #4012548 is they are 100X more durable, longer lasting, use less voltage, operate 100% functional from 100+ to -100+ degree's, they can do patterns, and change colors all in one tube...
ok, the site is down for maint. so i cant post the link, but i will laters, you will c what i mean about inside and out being the same sexy color!

I'm with magyver. He mentioned durable which is my main thing. Led tubes don't break or get water in them like neons.

uhh actually LED's can, its pretty much the same material, usually lexan. I have one crack in my rear tube from a large ice chunks. You want large ice chunks, come up to where I live and yes, ive had them on all winter and they still work great even with the small spider crack. Honestly, if you really want, you can make yoru own LED undercar kits. Its not that hard at all to make, the biggest problem is the lexan tubing. Besides that, you can make LED kits which look way brighter than the ones you buy by just adding my LED's in.

yeah, the lexan, but, the tubes will flex and not break the led's in side, led's can take all the shock you give them, but a neon will shatter, ive done my fair share, there just so much more durable..
yeah, you can make your own led kit, but its honestly not worth it, and that coming out of my mouth is almost gophel.. i have over 400 led's chillin waiting to be used... but i would never make my own tube for an undercar... i like my kit, the color change deal is awsome, for some that dont matter, but my cars black and looks good w/ all of my 7 colors, so it depends on my moood...

hehe well its been my expericence, LEDS can break.. Just gotta know how to do it right (Im known for having a certain "skill" on how to blow up caps, smoke and fire resistors, and burn out LED's. Im the only one stupid enough to believe the more power the better and blow things up constantly in class )

OH come on you know better than that, an LED is not an LED. LEDs have diffrent wavelengths, diffrent viewing angles and diffrent MCD (brightness).
This goes for the same thing an LED kit is not an LED kit. All LED's and LED kits are NOT created equal. Im not saying your kit sucks or anything, im not implying that by any means. But i can tell you that the plasmaglow kit will blow a liteglow LED kit out of the water on brightness.

Heres my view on this subject and ive seen just about every kit in person except the iceled kit.
Neon: Plasmaglow neons ARE the brightest kit out there followed by Streetglow gold series.
LED: LED's arent necessarily brighter than neons. Some of the cheaper LED kits include dim leds in their kits and produce a spotlight effect under your car, you have to watch out for that. Neons have a more uniform glow by all means. The only LED kits that i would recommend are the 1 color Plasmaglow LED kits and the 7 color Plasmaglow LED kit. ALso included is the ICELED kit found on www.oznium.com- that is the king of LED kits but it has a high price tag. I know those kits are bright and wont disappoint you. There might be some nice kits floating around on e-bay and the such like what magyver has but i can guarantee you they are few and far between. Most of those companys use cheap LEDS with a very small viewing angle which produce that spotlight effect.
This is pretty much a flamefest subject everybody thinks theres are the brightest and best. Like I said ive seen most kits in person as i go to many car shows and crap so take what i say with a grain of salt and do what you like and think is best.

Does anyone have the plasma glow single color LED kit in red? Some of the red lights I've seen come out more pink or other colors when you use them. How do they compare to the StreetGlow Gold series?

I heard the tubes break all the time. I was considering the new Street Glow LED's in Red. How would they hold up, and how bright would they be?

RED lights come out pink if they are cold cathodes. LEDs are true color and will stay true color thoughout their whole life.
You cant really compare Streetglow gold series and LED undercar kits, they are two completely diffrent things. The plasmaglow LED's are about equally as bright as Gold Series BUT the gold series have a more uniform and even color.
No tubes dont break all the time unless you drive like a jackass. Yeah if you run over curbs, dead animals, drive down gravel roads at 60mph yeah of course they are going to break what can you expect. But under normal driving conditions they will not break.
the StreetGlow LED's just came out i dont think anybody has seen them yet, you could be our new test rat though :)

dude, it wont be pink unless u get pink led's, led's are manufactoured to a certain wavelength, THEY WONT BE PINK! itwill be red, no and ifs or buts, when it comes to led's, its a solid color, so if it says red, it will be red, and a true red at that and stay that true red color till you break it!
thats the glory of led's, there that color till the end, they will never fade or change! led's rock man, you'll love them!

Like Magyver posted earlier, you have the option of hooking up two more LED tubes to install anywhere else in your car, which I'm going to do pretty soon, one 50" in the back seat and another 50" under the dash, it's going to be freakin crazy!!:slayer

People talked about good deals with neons, so where is the best place to find red LED kits?
tido_29
04-16-2004, 04:00 PM
if you go to www.oznium.com you can find their underbody led kits there.
Fortunately, red is the cheapest of the led kits.. the other colors (such as blue) cost like 18 bucks more.. I bought mine from there about 2 weeks ago.. and installing them tonight..

how much work is involved when installing the neon lights under the car, i bought optx neon kit and no shop around where i live wants to put them in, and the other thing is how long does it take to install?

 Can you say 2 year bump?
I'm not 100% sure how to put them in, but if they're just tubes, you can tuck them behind the bottom paneling with zipties/velcro straps/metal stuff... yeah.. maybe someone around here has underglow on their car and can explain it better... best thing is to jack up the car and see where you can mount it.
I don't like led's they don't glow. They look like a ton of little spotlights under the car, instead of a glow.

only the cheap and old kits do that.. neons are lame and outdated.. you cant change colors or patterns or expect them to last.. led's are virtualy indistructible. plus, they are a TRUE color. not a pastel one..

your kit should have mounting hardware. look under the car and see where u can mount the kit best for visibilty and protection.
install time depends on how easy u can get under the car and how you wire everything.
I had a cheap kit that did not include enough wire to reach all around.
but as most ppl say LEDs all the way
