Ship that puppy out!

After further inspection, they also make custom hoods AND do Carbon Fiber work.

they seem more than willing to do something, so.........

i have a 1988 grand am se 2.0l turbo 2 dr and i live in ontario bolton is not close but it is also not as far away as some others.

if you want me to do this i need more info on this.

ritzard
02-19-2003, 04:09 AM
here is how far i live from this shop its a map from my house to the shop distance (http://ca.maps.yahoo.com/py/ddResults.py?Pyt=Tmap&tarname=&tardesc=&osd=&newname=&newdesc=&dsd=&newHash=&newTHash=&newErr=&newTErr=&newFL=Use+Address+Below&newaddr=238+bruce+st&newcsz=Oshawa%2COntario&newcountry=ca&newTFL=Use+Address+Below&newtaddr=12249+Hwy+50&newtcsz=Bolton%2C+ON&newtcountry=ca&Submit=Get+Directions)

now if they just need the car to make molds from im up for that but if its being wrecked no way in hell i would also need to get in contact with the owner of the shop to talk to about my car beacuse its not in mint condition to see if its even useable.

so let me know about this leave me a pm or email me .

wow, this sounds good, but is it gonna be another fx clone, cause im sck of that shit. the hottest thing i have seen is graden doing the z24 side skirts. So that means that the side of the kt would also fit the calais and the old cav's which is a big enough market to get a return on a product. Ritzard, I dont think that they will deystroy your car buddy, but ont expect a free kit from them either, but it may be a considerably lesser price if they use your car for research and development. dont they have junkyards in canada, these cars arnt hard to find. I would seriously consieder a good looking bod kit to put on the w41 if it is priced reasonable. say 800-900 bucks. but it must look good.

ritzard

not expecting a free kit but hopefully a price cut .

All the info I have, I had in my initial post on this topic. Iy you two guys live that close, give them a call or better yet, Stop by and talk to someone about it. I can't imagine any damage being done to the R&D vehicle, because if anything they'll just be taking a mold of the stock bumpers and using the car to test the fit.

That's about all I can really say about this deal. The rest of the questions should be asked to Showcars them selves so you know the answer will be correct.

So, any chance of this thing getting made for us or what? :-D

Only slightly different though, and the way the bumpers attach is probably the same or similar. So a body kit, if done right, should work for both the '85-'88 and '89-'91s. Hopefully you guys succeed in getting one made!

well, I know the bumbers are differnt, the nose is really differnt (fenders, hood etc...89-91 is more aerodynamic) and the back is also differnt, differnt bumbers and I think the trunk may be differnt, also the taillight thing is differnt as well

other then that, I think the rest of the body is the same, and a few things inside were changed

nineteen88ga
02-19-2003, 09:49 PM
I'd have to say that both front and rear bumpers mount the same way. I actualy have an 89-91 SE tail light Pannel on my 88, and if went right on with just a slight space between the bumper and the pannel itself, nothing major.

Side skirts will be the same, so with just a few slight things, I'd say they should work. If any alterations are needed with anything, I'm sure it's nothing an experienced body shop couldn't handle.

My friend and prez. of the car club I'm in has an 01 Z-24 and had a kit from a 96-99 put on it. They look very similar, but there are someslight diferences in the front and rear bumpers....sooooo things can work out.

I would certainly be interested in a kit for my GA:)

nineteen88ga
02-21-2003, 12:02 AM
I think we know I'm game for the kit! What about a nice hood too. I believe they also do Carbon fiber work as well...my friend pointed taht out to me the other night.

just some ideas...since the early 90's cavalier have some kids available, and the body style is similar...FX Designs has a hot looking kit (I think) Pretty aggressive looking and what not. maybe something similar could be done for ours? Just to give them an idea of what we're after. Might as well try to be prepared if we can. :-)

ritzard

when i talk to them ill post what they said about it.

if this is done its good for people in america you wont have to pay as much as me and the people up in canada.

I'm game for a kit if it'll fit my '91 GA!! Keep us updated man... I'm hopin that we can get this kit... it'll be awesome!! I agree nineteen88ga, those Cavi kits from FX look pretty hott! A kit like that would look awesome on our GAs!!

On a side note, the pic of the Purple Cav was taken at the schol where I'm at now at a Lowrider show held her annually.

I know these front clips are all everry similar, but I think they're kind of cool. They're definately aggressive looking in my opinion. I just do not want another "Razzi looking" kit made for our cars.
Although the one thing with Razzi's kit is it adds-on to your fctry bumper so you'll still maintain the "ribs" If a front/rear bumper is made(similar to the ones I posted here) I think they should still have the ribs in them....maybe..., but if not, The "ribbed" molding along the sides can always be removed for an even smoother look.

ritzard
02-25-2003, 03:53 AM
you like the big hole in the middle of the bumper thoes kits look cool .

about the ribs the only reason i want a body kit is to get rid of them once and for all.

ok we covered the front what about the back ?

I have to say Andy's back clip is the one I would choose out of those!

Have you been talking to them about this Ritzard?

i havent had the chance i have a cold and i cant talk for more than a min before it starts hurting to much as soon as im over this ill be on the phone talking to them or ill just print out some pics and bring it to them to see what they can do.

02-26-2003, 12:15 PM
Colds suck, I know I can't take them, and sore throats definately suck major a$$. Just don't cough on them when you go talk. We don't want any of showcars workers getting sick and taking time off of work delaying our "potenital" kit any longer. lol

A few people ahve shown interest about this at www.gmpowertalk.com as well, but that place is so dead it's hard to tell sometimes.

ritzard
02-27-2003, 04:10 PM
ok i phoned them today

some good news

ok first off they do not need a car to mold from so thats good

they do have group discounts but i cant give any prices i need some info first on what kit you want so i can ask what the price is going to be. And the year of your car with it and if its 4 door or 2 door.

or if you want go solo i was on the phone and they told me that the most expensive kit is $1400 american so maybe that gives you a price range and shiping to NY about $150-$200 he never really said for sure just gave me some numbers.

Now hoods im pretty sure he said the whole thing not just the scoup with the ram air hood $400 american + shiping .

I was looking at their site and i cant figure out how to tell wich kit is wich maybe someone can tell me .

Now dont hold me to any of this info im just saying what my ears heard and we all know how prices like to change from one person to another so lets get a list togethor of what we want and what car we have and than we can get some prices.

nineteen88ga
02-28-2003, 08:27 AM
Write me up as part of the group buy! I'll take one for my 88 2door.

For the group buy, when you say you need to know what kit we want, what do you mean? I'm assuming you just mean either the 2dr or the 4dr? If not I definately want a similar looking kit like the ones in the pics I posted (big grills in the bumper, you know the kind).

I'd really like to see what the hood and kit itself will look like.

but yeah, mark me down for one. lol

... if the company you are dealing with is interested in having a Banner Ad like the ones above, tell them to give me a shout ... I believe it would be a good opportunity for them as where else could they reach as many 'older vintage' Grand AMs but here, where they are welcomed with open arms :wink4: :D

Kelly I just emailed them and included your offer.

I sent them links to the pics of the FX designs kits (and the one Andys kit) to see if they could make something along those lines, so I'm awaiting their response. I also asked them about how long it would take them to whip up a kit. IF possible I'd like to have it before May (possibly mid-april at the lattest) to have it on intime for Carlisle, but if Not I could always wait til llater on in the show season. No biggie, I would just like to bust out onto the scene all done up...ya know? hehe

For the group buy from what I gather we don't all need to buy the same thing just buy at same time for a discount they said we could set up something like have a deadline date for everyone to make their orders under one name.

Thats great news! Write me down for a kit also for 2 door, I'm going to be driving up through that way in June and coming back in August so I will be doing the same as you Ritzard and get it on the way through and save shipping costs and just put that towards installtion instead. I would like to be able to set it up for June myself if its possible.

So has the kit style been decided yet? I would also like to mention that maybe they can make some fender flares that would work with the kit, so it can cover over some wider tires. I am in the middle of a project ripping out the old engine and sticking in a v6 from a Grand National. I would love to have a body kit with it. To define what I want in a kit: I want it to look strong like the mustang COBRA R, not ricey like a honday or eclipse, and I want it to have a menacing presence, none of this happy go lucky honda civic crap. Basically I dont want it to look like the car is smiling. Here are some links of the kits I like:

I was also wondering if anyone knew of a site that made the altezza tail lights for a 89-91 GA. Im not even sure if they make them.
thanks for your time

ritzard
03-04-2003, 09:03 PM
i dont think they do but i have seen a pic of a 88 ga with clear tails and he said he did it him self.

if that helps any i dont know. me personally dont like the clear look im going for a compleat black out in my car.my tails are factory tinted.

nineteen88ga
03-04-2003, 09:40 PM
No one manufactures altezzas for the 85-88 or 89-91 Grand Ams. but if you really want to, the SE model tails can be taken apart and made "clear". not something I think loogs great, but if that's what your after, it can be done.

89-91 SE's came with factory flares, but it's not going to widen anything to get very large tires in the fenders. They did help some on my car, my 17's did stick out slightly but with the flares they're totally covered.

IF this body kit ever comes along, I plan on molding these flares into the body.

Hey guys, I'm kinda new to the board, but I have a 91' GA LE and I'm definitly lookin' for a more aggressive body-kit than what I saw on this website... Wicked Bodiez (http://www.wickedbodies.net/generic.html?pid=167) it's kind of plainish if you ask me.

Like most of you guys, I probably won't be able to order the kit until mid summer, because I'm installing a nice system in the GA now, Alpine face, AudioBahn speakers, amps, etc. in total it's about $2,500-$3,000.

But yeah, keep me updated on this hopefully soon to be new kit for the 85-91 Grand Ams. :agree:

100%JUICE
03-05-2003, 10:20 AM
That is exactly what I was talking about. I feel that a body kit like that is a waste of money. Its basically just a skirt that doesnt really change the appearance of the car. We need a full blown kit.

ritzard
03-09-2003, 01:32 AM
if everyone wants i can help with orders but i wont be getting one anytime soon no money and if i did have money it would not be going into a body kit at this time so let me know if you want help we could make a list or something than i could get the price and what the deductions would be for the group that gets one.

its all up to you guys.

or like i said earlyer could go solo.

Like many others I don't have the cash for this kit right now, but I definatley hope to soon. (I spent a little more than I estimated on my re-vamp of my system), but if I HAD to I could get the kit now.

Is everyone else still interested? I just wanted to bring this back up to the top of the posts to remind anyone interested. This is one thing I don't want us to forget about.

im interested in a kit...for my 88 grand am 4 dr. like to see some pics tho before i buy. The one i saw on razzi.com looks much like the stock kit and for $600 i could modify the stock bumpers myself
