New GA owner, lookin for tails

Hey guys, I just bought a '02 Grand Am SE. The thing is, it's that gold/beige/whatever color. I'm just thinking that the aftermarket tails I've seen won't look good with it. Do you have any suggestions?

there's not many options. you have the ugly aftermarket tails or you can get a set of GT lenses and clear them. i personally prefer the GT lenses over all the others i've seen......aside from car audio daves on his car

Go over to eBay and search under "Grand Am 99".

There are five basic types for the 99-04 models

1. Stock SE (can not be cleared)
2. Stock GT (can be cleared)
3. Euro Terminator (with a chrome radiation symbol)
4. Euro
5. AED

They can be found a various outlets under some different names.

I love the look of the AEDs, but they're pretty expensive for a few pieces of plastic and some LED bulbs. Maybe I'll just try to be creative with what I have.

GT Tails is about the cheapest you can go if you want cleared taillights.

I didn't say I wanted cleared tail lights. I just wanna do something different besides the stock ones, but I don't think clear or black tails will look good with the gold color.

it actually all depends on what color theme youre going for. i agree that chrome and black dont go with gold, but honestly, gold isnt a color thats easy to pull off when youre fixing it up. youve got a lot of forces working against you, sorry.

and the AED tails are expensive, but youre paying for quality. the LED plates were designed by Len himself, but not for the GA, he originally designed them for the Shelby Series 1, but they worked well for our cars once he made the housing.

Hey dave,you gonna keep the tail black or you gonna have it chrome dipped or painted? I think it would sick(in the good way,haha) if they were chrome,dunno.I don't think what you did to those tails theres no way you could make them look crappy.

thanks everyone! well i already painted them black, but i have plans to mess with them some more. chrome would be nice, but apparently the ones that Len and Susana have are not really chrome, they were painted professional to look chrome, so ill see what i can do to get em done, or i might jsut have em professionaly painted black.

oh ok.I just know or saw a GA over on GM-Power talk when those tails first came out and saying they got them chrome dipped,i know it wasn't Len or Susana.They do look nice in the chrome;) But your black is pretty nice to,i think its because you use the clear covers/lenses and they stand out better.

Wow mag, that is a nice car. I think you should put in some LEDs tho...it would make it look a lot better.....

Anyway, anyone have any suggestions for me, other than 'get a paint job'?
