OK, all of a sudden my passenger-side rear speaker has this awful rattling sound when ever deep bass hits. I need to know how to distinguish between it being "blown" or it being "loose". Whenever there is little or no bass not one bad sound comes from the speaker. As soon as a fair amount of bass hits, it gets the rattling type noise. The deeper the bass=worse the rattle. So what do you all make of it? Do I have a blown speaker or just one that has come loose. If you need any more information I'll do my best to describe it.
Also, if it is loose, are there any common points of stripping or screws that are known to come loose?
Thanks for any and all help.

I had a similar problem that was fixed by replacing one of the mounting screws that had managed to strip the hole. I used the next size larger (diameter) screw and everything was fine. Of course, about a month later, I actaully *DID* blow a voice coil, but that;s unrelated. Different speaker, in fact.

I am having the same problem. I talked to one dealer and he said that it isn't under warranty. He said it was my fault that it is blown and they wouldn't replace it.:pissed:
So then I went to another dealer and they said that they would replace it under warranty. In addition, they said that they would check the other speakers to make sure that they were ok. NO QUESTIONS ASKED!!
Anyway, both dealers agreed that it was a common problem.

Well if it's blown than I am S.O.L because it's outta warranty. The thing is it doesnt sound blown at all....it just rattles when deep bass hits, like it's loose. :banghead:

Try holding the speaker down when the bass hits to make shure it is not loose.

Yeah I got the monsoon system too and my rear passanger side ralltles too. If it is so common why don't they have a recall and fix it?

Mine rattles as well at times. I figure it's blown and am too lazy to do anything about it. I'm ditching this car first chance I get.

They're not blown, it's a common problem. The tweeter post breaks free from the woofer & rattles w/ every bass hit. I cut the wires at the woofer cone & put in R.F. tweets right beside the 6x9 under the grill. (Tweeters are the only thing easily replaced in the Monsoon system.)

Yeah thats what happened with mine. The passenger side. I did take it out and try to tape the tweeter down but that didnt make it very far. So I just built sub box and took out my Solo Baric and threw that in my car and I unhooked the 2 6x9 woofers.

I blew the driver side rear speaker factory speaker and replaced the whole set with Pioneer 6x9's and now the passenger side rear speaker rattles with bass hits. I checked to see if it was blown and it's fine. I put some padding around the inside hoping it would help, but no luck yet. My next day off I'll try again. I guess there's just something about THAT location.
