View Full Version : Cramming for the meet?

Anyone else doing everything you can to get as much speed or style on your rides before the big meet?

I seem to be on a slight buying frenzy to get as much speed out of my ride for the time I have?

What else is everyone doing?

Well not doing as much as I'd like.
We have two things we want to do to the GA.
One being to change the #2 fuel injector and get rid of the misfire.
The second my wife wants to keep as a surprise.

I don't have much to do on the truck other than a trailer hitch and airshocks to tow the ClubECM trailer.

The trailer is a whole other story. New paint and graffics airbrushed on. Hopefully some diamond plate, tail light taken from the sides and flush mounted in the doors. etc.

I'm not doing much cramming for the meet, ive been house shopping like its my job lately, IF I buy a house before the meet I wont be able to come to the meet becuase i wont have the funds to stay up there, but it usually takes a few months for the closing to finalize

Just curious did you ever do any fuel mods to it?
After we talked about it last year I think it would help a bit to complement your other mods.

Theres a few things I want to get done but it all comes down to funds $$$. 1/2 of albany is just saving cash for the trip itself.

I will have a few surprises :)

Well it all depends.
Lebenon Valley Dragway is $30 for Test-N-Tune.
Parking at Thatcher Park is $6.
Then you have your Gas money, food money, and hotel, plus whatever money you plan on spending, etc.

I did the entire trip from MI last year for 250 bucks.... but this year I'm bringing more with me. It was cutting it a little close. 350 will do me just fine this year.

Actually no, I didn't.. I was really planning on purchasing either RK's or Casper's AFPR, but too many ppl are telling me I don't need it.. I dunno. You n Kelly say yeah, it'll definitely help, while others say I'm just wasting my $$.. =/ so in the meantime, I didn't do anything. Kelly had told me to check what my psi is set at stock, cuz it might even be high already, but I haven't yet..

If you forget I have a fuel pressure tester/gauge in my tool box which should be in the ClubECM trailer at LVD.

Quick question! That thirty dollars for test and tune, is that just if we are running on the strip, or is that for every car that enters the (LVD)?

That is only for those planning to drive/enter the pit area. You can simply pay to be a spectator if you wish.

You and I both my friend.
Spent a few hours the other day changing a fuel injector and still not running 100%.
Time for a coil pack.

Well the GA is still running like poo.

The ECM trailer needs paint still (spraying it the sunday before the meet, hopefully I'll have time to do the airbrushing).

Waiting for parts so Chad and I can make my custom trailer hitch. A typical under the bumper reciever wasn't good enough. Chad talked me into a custom job that will have the tounge come through the bumper and have the plate on spring loaded hinges hidding the reciever when not in use.

Then I still have ALOT of prep work for the meet it's self. EKKK
Better get a move on!

With the work load like that and such a short time frame we should be on the TV show Overhaulin'. Maybe Mr. Foose could stop by and design a tricked out trailer for us.

Hey what do you think of those massive Koni shocks for the Xtreme?

You think those will help my payload problem?

And like I said, I still want to slam the trailer to the ride height is the same as the truck. :D

Well with 2 weeks to go before Albany...

My front end is pulled off and being painted by a friend of Nikki's.

My sides mirrors are off and being painted by Nikki's friend.
(hopefully these will be done by Tuesday, and back on the car)

My interior is ripped out (I'm going 2 tone with the paint scheme, we'll see how it comes out)

I have a mod under the hood causing me all sorts of problems
that will probably have to come out/off so I can drive the thing to NY. Unless a miracle happens.

Heh, I remember last year I had a whole list of performance stuff to do to my car, and all that.... but since I got the '79 which is awaiting the built 500, my hot-rodding ideas for the '93 are over.... no cat-back exhaust, Edelbrock muffler, dual side pipes, performance computer etc... it is staying stock....

...hopefully after we replace the motor mount, I can do a tune up on her.... well, plugs/wires/cap+rotor, couple other things I havn't done yet..... the onlything real differnt on the car this year from last will be the new wheels and tires (which I need to get balanced) and some of my sound system.... hopefully this time I won't have almost a full tank of gas, and with the tune up, and me being a better driver, I may be able to break my 16.0..... but honestly anymore, me trying to get the '93 faster is out of the question, it is plenty fast how it is...... but when you see a 20ft. 4,500lbs yatch blowing the 1/4 in 14s, THAT is going to be interesting.... and hopefully for the next years meet, I'll be driving the '79..... on steriods..... :D

Although I do have a few more mods in mind for the ;93... window tint, *maybe* build up my sound system more.... all depends on cash flow... but as it is now, any money I have to spend for extra things on my cars will be going to building up that engine :D

Eric has been my savoir this week. I owe you a big thanks for that hookup!

I took him an aftermarket bumper to have painted, when he put the color on it, he found that it needed to be roughed out at a higher cost than his original estimate. I could tell he felt terrible... so, he asked me to bring him the car yesterday. He's fixing my OEM bumper at a lesser cost to me. And doing about 150 bucks worth of work for free. I owe that guy big time, and he'll be getting a TON of referrals from me!

He tells me he'll have my car by Tuesday. Suffice it to say Wed and Thurs will be cramming days! LOL!

BTW: Have you guys decided when you're leaving?

positive note...i have interior neons installed....and my new tires are on.

Brandon and I are leaving Thursday nite and driving 1/2 way, I believe...then continuing there on Friday morning...

Well what gets me is he and the shop are totally eating the cost of painting and labor of that aftermarket bumper. They I'm sure get a decent rate on materials, but he explained to me that the orange is a little harder to come by therefore a little more expensive. Plus they had to pay the guy for his time to prep and paint it. It's definately an impressive place. I ALMOST wish I could pay him more LOL! :)

Niagra falls is about 1/2 way as I recall. Maybe if I decide to leave early enough I could meet you guys somewhere around there. I'm the type that likes to bust it all in one trip. I can't justify spending the money on another night for a hotel either. I did it in about 9 hours last year.

Old Guy

Less than a week!!!

I got it waxed, CAI's back on, rotated the tires, calipers and rear drums repainted..... all that's left is to get an oil change, clean the carpet and detail the engine bay and I'm ready to roll!!!!

Schools out so I have all kinds of time!!! :D

Yeah, I've been going to that shop for years...my whole family has always had cars fixed there. They call us VIPs hehehe...

Anyway, talk to Brandon about meeting up...he knows more than I ;)
