Here is a picture of my 96 AAS GA GT with my 95 civic projector headlights. It required some cutting on the kit, fabricating brackets, fiberglassing, and of course wiring. I'm still working to get them perfect but I thought I'd show you this pic. This is the only one I have at the moment, I will post more when I get more.

please do. Those are sweet. I was just thinking it would be nice to do that. Also mention how you hooked up the bulbs. I looked on e-bay and i'm going to guess they are from a 92-95 civic. They are $130 on ebay. I think i may have a summer project.

you have to wire high to high, low to low, get civic wiring harness' and use those for turns, and run the halos off of the turns too for parking lights

i like it too. and why is that pic on an import site? i dont even see an import anywhere in the pic. anyways, came out looking good. i would love if they made a direct replacement projector for the 99+, i would put a set on emily's car. but i dont have the time or extra money to put a custom set in her car.......im working on my own ride now. she's done got everything she's wanted for it other than rims.

Looks real good man. I need to buy a set and see how they look against a 95. They seem to have the overall shape as stock. I dont think people can see just my corner blinker during the day very well and the aed front took away the bumper blinker.

How did the wiring work? Do the civics use High and Low beam bulbs or just 1?

Azrael
05-13-2004, 06:41 PM
There might be a little more fabrication involved in getting them to work with 92-95 GAs. The corner lights extend back a little further and tapers to a point compared to the 96-98 GAs. I could be wrong though as I'm only going by various pics from cardomain.com.

Ok i am very interested in the mod on my 98 but from this thread and stuff i have seen at aed there is not much info. so from i have seen on John_and_JackieC's page it is just dropping them in and mounting them and wiring please reply someone with some more info

VanishingImage
06-20-2004, 10:01 PM
first off you'll have to get custom brackets made to make them fit in the same spot as the stock ones.Wiring them up is pretty much the easy part. And last you'll have to use fiberglass to fill in spots that have big gaps. Thats pretty much all what Wes said had to be done(Wes is Flatline).

FlatlineGA
06-20-2004, 10:14 PM
thanks, he's right, just weld you some brackets, cut you some kit, fiberglass some gaps and wire some bulbs ;-)

Hondacappilla
06-21-2004, 10:03 PM
So just to get a better idea i know you have to shave off areas on the side is that all you must shave and what all must you fiberglass the only reason i am asking so many questions is that my dad wants some serious info before i tear into the grand am once again

FlatlineGA
06-22-2004, 12:46 PM
yeah just shave some of the side, you don't have to fiberglass but i am to fill in the gap around the headlight

Hondacappilla
06-22-2004, 06:03 PM
thanks:)

Cmnky16
06-22-2004, 08:15 PM
could you get some more, close up pics? I would like to see the gaps you mentioned. From your pics they look almost perfect. If you drive up to a garage door are the lights aimed strait?

VanishingImage
06-22-2004, 10:31 PM
thats pretty much where the brackets come in.If you look at our stock bracket, you can actually turn the whole assembly left to right to aim it,theres also those little screw looking things that I think help aim as well but the stock brackets pretty much aim,the custom brackets would replicate that but with the "custom" part to get it to mount and aimed right.I thought I saw a close up shot on his cardomain that shows the engine bay and the custom bracket, maybe wrong and it was someone else.

Cmnky16
06-22-2004, 11:27 PM
nope, Do you know of anyone else who has them?

VanishingImage
06-23-2004, 11:18 PM
damn, thats a nice 96-98 GA!! whered ya find those pics? Looks like I'll be doing something similar to this then,I can make those brackets easily(I help out my dad and his friend at their machine shop,no problems there) and I'll just have my body shop guy do the other stuff,or do what I can, already have done most of the body work on my AAS kit so far, only needs some more sanding then off to be painted it goes.....Think the 95-99 Eclipse headlights look similar too?

mthegodfather
06-24-2004, 08:48 AM
That is sick.I like the civic lights.

FlatlineGA
06-24-2004, 04:21 PM
that is john and jackie c's grand am, i know a couple others who have done it too

89GrandAmOwner
06-24-2004, 07:03 PM
the 97-99 eclipse silver backed headlights would prolly look pretty good on the 96=98 ga's

Hondacappilla
06-25-2004, 08:12 PM
i think you might have to check the height on the eclipse's headlights they look a quite a bit more low profile than ours or the civics.

magyver
06-27-2004, 02:54 PM
or, you could always just buy a set off ebay for the projectors, then retro them into the stock housing for cheap...

Hondacappilla
06-27-2004, 06:21 PM
yeah i was thinking about buying some like cheap civic projector for like 60-90 bucks and ripping out the projector and retrofitting it into the ga stock housing would anyone happen to have any idea or suggestions for ideas or how to go about this

Azrael
07-01-2004, 07:03 PM
After some more comparisons between 92-95 and 96-98 headlights they might fit just as well on 92-95 GAs if not a little better. They might not require cutting the fenders at all. I'm going to see if a local custom shop can get some in to compare with my stock headlights. If they fit well enough I'll be going for it. :)

FlatlineGA
07-01-2004, 10:16 PM
they won't fit as well or better, the civic headlights have the same curves of the 96-98, 92-95 are more flat and aren't as close. my friend is working on it for his 93 ga and i can tell you it's a harder fit than mine were

Azrael
07-02-2004, 01:01 AM
Ahh nutz then. Can't blame me for getting hopeful. Guess I can always bother the company that makes them to make some for our cars.

VanishingImage
07-02-2004, 12:34 PM
If you don't wanna mess around with buying new headlights and like the dark look of them(how its blacked out like),this is what im gonna be doing with mine...Take apart the headlight, get some spray tint or black spray paint, tape off the back part of the housing(the really chrome reflective stuff where the bulbs sit) and spray the bottom and top parts of the housing, this will give the apearence of that, your lights will still shine as bright as b4,no loss of light, just a darker look.I'll try and get some pics of what Im talking about,it looks nice if you don't wanna do all the fabrication of fitting another cars headlight to yours, its a nice alternative IMO.

Big Joe
07-02-2004, 02:48 PM
hey all you 92-95 guys this is something I've been looking into for a while now (putting a different car's projectors on my car) and i think the headlight that most closly resembles ours is the 98-02 accord.....Just might have to cut the fender a little

Azrael
07-03-2004, 10:51 PM
The accord headlights don't seem to angle upwards toward the cornerlamps as much as a GAs headlights do so there'll be plenty of gap filling. But I do like the way the accord projectors look much more than the civic ones. Good find. :)

What about a cavi projector light? They are two pieces also.

VanishingImage
07-04-2004, 08:15 PM
Good point...I think the Cavi ones would be almost a pefect match since they have the same similar shape as the 92-95 GA's and are a two piece.

Big Joe
07-05-2004, 04:11 PM
humm never thought about a cavi......thats a dam good idea. I guess sometimes the answer is just so much easier then you think it is

greenguy
07-07-2004, 02:59 PM
what year civic..or cavi would i need for a 99 GA SE. i want the projector headlights, and a two piece would be ideal because i want the angeleyes as well. what lights would be the easiest to use?

I work at a scale modeling firm now that does everything from prototypes for the US gov't to just scale models of buildings. Since I will have some free time on my lunch break i am definently going to start buildling some custom euro style headlights for my 1994. I will keep you guys updated with pictures as they come along. Anyone have any designs that they think may look good for our generation?

If you wanted to say a statement about being played out, look how many people own grand ams, now thats played out.

will ny of this work for a 99+?

FlatlineGA
01-24-2005, 09:14 PM
the 99+ headlight is not the same as the 96-98 so the fitment wouldn't be near as good, there'd be too much of a gap

03gagt
01-24-2005, 09:18 PM
http://www.matrixracing.com/BI5819Details.htm

would these fit the 03 gt?

FlatlineGA
01-24-2005, 09:34 PM
i mean if u did modification they could fit, i'm not sure how good they would fit but you can put any headlights on any car, just depends how much work you wanna do

03gagt
01-24-2005, 09:43 PM
how bout this does anyone know what projectors would require the least work to put in a 99+ GA.

Azrael
01-24-2005, 10:39 PM
Retrofitting a projector assembly into a stock headlight housing would require a lot less bodywork and be a perfect fit. Only it tends to be extremely difficult.

Out of curiosity: What kind of bulbs do the civic projectors take?

vdgmcool
01-25-2005, 02:12 PM
I think they use H1 bulbs but i'm not sure

FlatlineGA
01-25-2005, 02:34 PM
yes both high and low beams take h1's
