Hey,
Ok, so I have the stock aluminum rims on my '03 SE1.. I really like how they look, but I think they would look better chrome... A shop near me quoted me at $75 a rim for my '80 TA rims (15x8.5)awhile back... Since these rims are slightly smaller, it may or may not be less. Also, I really don't like the chrome rims on the GT's... what should I do?

75 per rim doesn't sound to bad.....As for wether or not you should do it is really up to you, everyone could vote but in the end your the one making the decision......If i had the money, which 75 isn't bad for per rim,id prolly do it.I say go for it.

youd be the onyl one with it liek that. the "chrome" rims that come stock are the same as yours, they just have a chrome plastic cover. you can get those at teh dealer for probably less than $75 each.
EDIT: after looking back i see that you have the SE. so which rims do you have? 15", 16", 15 spoke, 5 star, torqued.

He has an 03 so I would think it would be the old gt 5 spoke cause didn't they change the rims in 03?

Finally... I found a 1/2 decent pic of one of my rims... I didn't take the pic, but, you know... BTW, if anyone has one for sale for less than $50, let me know, I would rather have a full spare than that damned donut.

Not worth the time or money. WHY ? well nobody will notice your mod, the only people that will notice is diehard GA owners like us. So why do it?
Get some aftermarket chrome rims that EVERYBODY will notice and you'll get more props.

Can't really say I agree.
I think using factory stuff to stand out is twice as good as buying some crap off the shelf like anyone else can.
If I can ever find a set of chrome SSEi wheels I would be all over them.

yeah it looks twice as good to you because your an automotive enthuiast.... You know what wheels come on the car stock.
But im placing bets that the average person will never notice if you chrome your factory wheels.

People may not notice that you had them done yourself...but believe me...people notice chrome...factory or not...just my 2 cents...
P.S. i think your wheels would look nice being chromed...

I seriously hope you're not talking about the rim itself. Triple that and that's what the dealer would sell a chrometech for.

I can't count that ammount of times I have people complement us on our stock chrome wheels. One reason why I'm in no hurry to get rid of them. :D

im talking about the chrome plastic cover for the optional chrome GT wheels. the wheels themselves are NOT chrome.

it will look weird, it would look like a hubcap to me if i saw ya, cause there still 15 or 16" and arent flashy at all...i dont think its worth it at all... but thats cause im cheap...even still, i dont think theyll look good...
get some new ones, aftermarket, sheot, your got 300 into it, my rims/tires cost me 650 shipped...
so your half way there to a 200% increase in looks and noticabliity

I like the idea...
I have the same rims on my GA.. and I'm going to get them painted white to match my car... cause that's what I like...
As for what people will think of your rims...
"Regular" people will think they are aftermarket rims...
GA "enthusiasts" will know they are chromed stock rims...
Most people won't give a damn what they are... they don't care.
I personally prefer little touches that are unique and not off the shelf... While aftermarket rims do look cool... I don't care for the big wheels... If those spinner rims came in a 16 or 15 inch wheel I would consider them.... but that's just me...
