I have a 1996 4 door grand am SE, and I was wondering if it would be possible for me to install a sunroof myself.. or should I just take it somewhere and have a professional do it? I don't got loads of cash so I was hoping I could do it myself, I don't want it to leak though. If I can do it myself how would I go about doing it? Someone help me out.:D

A 1,000 bucks. Are you kidding? I had one installed in my 89 Sunbird in '95 and it only cost me $285 - Lifetime Guarantee on parts. Never leaked a drop the entire time I had it(totalled in 9/2003). I know that was 9 years ago but man I don't think the price has went up that much.

Ask around in your area and get some prices, also ask it there is a guarantee on it - water leaks, broken parts, etc. The one I had was guaranteed, if a part broke(except for the glass-insuarance will cover that)or if it ever leaked they would fix it-no charge.

285? I don't see how it could be that cheap.. You pay for what you get for..

It was probally one of those small pop-up ones? There really cheap then gotta pay for labor 40-60/hour or whatever. So that sounds right if it was a popup one.

Yes it was a pop-up one. 17x32 was the size. Personally I don't know of anyone who installs sunroofs like the factory ones.

Theres places up here that install ones like the grand am. You gotta sell your car just to afford it though :)
