Hey everyone, I'm looking for someone who knows what aviable engine swap would be for a 1991 Grand-Am. I'm also considering a swap to a 5-speed manual and improved exhaust. Right now, the car is strictly a work car, and is really a hunk of ****, but rather than modify the wife's car (a much-simpler 1998 'scort), I would rather take mine and build it into a bit of a sleeper. If anyone knows of a decent engine (preferably with 220+HP, turbo is fine since I've turbo'd engines before) and trans (5 or 6 speed manual is preferable, but would consider a 4-speed [OD] automatic if it's a reliable build) swap that can be done, let me know. I've been even considering some foreign engines just to be a smart-allec, but the only ones that will fit are low-HP engines unless I do a RWD swap, which is much more than I want to bother with. Anyone have any ideas, or is this more or less the ultimate pipe dream?

why not use a quad? i think GM still has new W41 engines; you can find mounts and a suitable tranny from a junkyard GA. the HO quad4 puts out 190hp; with a few mods you can get well over 220hp from it. i know of a turboed quad in a GTZ that runs 13sec 1/4 miles, on low boost!

Going to have to research that, the quad had major difficulties with the timing belts shredding, is there a gear drive kit available?
