Got a '93 Grand Am. Over the past year and a half, one by one, each of the 3 climate control knobs have broken and fallen off (the inside plastic cracked all apart). I had been using just one knob and swapping it on and off all 3 controls for the past few months. :-)

Anyway, today I stopped by the local Pontiac dealer to finally see about getting replacements. The price? $15. Not for the set of 3. Each! Gimme a break.

Since I'm sure lots of others have experienced the breakage of these crappy knobs, I'd like to know if anyone has either found a cheaper third party replacement, or a cheaper online source to order them? Or perhaps a quick homemade fix???

I would try the local junkyard. Look in anything around the same age made by GM. They tend to use the same parts in many models.

Another place would be the auto parts store. They usually have a section of common use items like that.

Yep. I have had to replace 1. I have another that will likely go sometime in the near future.

I had to buy a new one from the delaer. Junk yard didn't have any, and all they would do is sell me the complete HVAC control module with the knobs. Same at a used parts store.

I doubt that you will find replacements at a parts store like Auto Zone or anything like that.

You may simply have to bite the bullet and buy new ones from GM.
