My 1997 2.4 SE is leaking a bright green fluid. I'm not sure what this means, but I just got the car out of the shop last week after having some leaking problems that caused the car to overheat. After taking it to the shop twice, the car stopped overheating. I noticed today however that the car was leaking again, this time it wasnt water though, it was bright green. The car hasnt overheated or shown any signs that it will, but I would like to know whats coming out of my car and how serious it is. If anyone could help me with this, I would much appreciate it. Thanks.

It's coolant ( antifreeze ) . Take it back to the shop , and don't drive too long with the leak or it'll overheat and damage the engine . ;)

:agree:
Might even check the level before you take off, if it's been a few days.

...and tell them to put in the proper coolant this time, GMs use Dexcool, not the green stuff.

The green stuff is acceptable as long as the orange stuff is completely flushed out. We all know of the class action suit against GM, for the use of Dex-cool. My '99 suburban has it and when I do any cooling system work to it in the future I'll replace it with good 'ol Glycol.

...we also know that the class action is going nowhere.

If you decide to run fluids that are not recommended in your engine don't be surprised when things start breaking left and right.

check the water pump or tell the shop to check the water pump
