I need to bypass my heater core but I have a few questions before doing so.

1) Which hoses do I disconnect?
2) Where to I disconnect them and reconnect them at?
3) How wide are the hoses so I know which ones I`m looking for?

2.4L TwinCam engine if that helps. Thanks.

There are two heater hoses running into the fire wall. The two that look like they go into the fire wall are the heater core hoses.

When I did mine a just ran to a plumbing store grabbed a piece of pipe the size needed. Stuck it in either end and used two clamps. One on each end of course. Tie them up good so they don't flop around. Or they might get a kink (sp).

Well I got the heater core bypassed finally and man, was that a b***h. Would`ve been alot easier if the outlet and inlet hoses were the same size. Now I have a couple more questions. Is it normal for the Low Coolant light to be on with the core bypassed? I kept checking the coolant level and it`s fine and there`s no leaks. Second, how much does a new core cost?

No its not normal for the light to be on...the sensor is locaterd in the coolant resivior. most times when your coolant goes low, the sensor gets stuck. Take a screwdriver and look for the power wire going to the tank. just tap that part of the tank to dislodge the sensor.

Here is Canada it cost me 150 bucks from the dealer

I had to put two in my grand am.
There about 65 bucks, call around, you will get different prices.

The job is doable if you have any real skills working on cars. It will take you 4 to 5 hours the first time. It lives right smack in the middle of the underside of the dash.

I have seen people post prices from 150 to 400 Plus for a new one and labor.

Good luck.
