I have 100.00 gift card to summit, and i am looking for ideas on what to buy. On the top of my list are 2 summit turbo mufflers with summit single out slant cut tips. But after that i am probably going to have about 30.00 left plus i have birthday money coming up. I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions.
here is what i am thinking
either a summit transmission cooler, just to keep the car around longer and keep that tranny strong.
or something a little more fun like the sneaky pete nitrous system
or a double gauge pod with a air/ fuel gauge and and something else.
If you will please answer my poll it will be helpful, or if you have any of your own suggestions it would be helpful thankyou.

yeah, it is a real small nitrous system, it comes with like a 20 ounce bottle, gives you a couple tenths of a second, but it is easy to hide, basically like a cheater.

on those gauges, do you mean the ones that are in the pods next to the door? Because I would get those. I think thats not only a good usefull mod but also an appearance mod in my opinion. I'd get those. BTW where do you find those and for about how much?

If it helps any it is actually made by NOS and costs about 210.00 out of summit racing catalog.

I would go for the gauge pods..Then the nitros. That way you will be able to tell if you have a prob.:D

dont get the sneaky pete system! its a waste if you want nitrous get a normal set up the sneaky pete system cant keep the bottle pressure up and you will only get about 2-5 shots out of it and have to hav eit refiled. i had a friend with one and said it was the worst thing he ever did. the gauge pods are nice but my vote is for the cooler. whats the use in getting gauge pods and then fry the tranny? just my way of thinking. get the tranny cooler and then get something that you need a pod for like a turbo or supercharger! im not saying that there are things you cant put in there tho. seeing as teh newer GA's dont have a volt meter i think that would be helpful
just noticed that you have a 98 and to my knowledge tehre isnt a a-pillar gague pod for your car. there are always the universial ones that you have to glue or somehow make them stick. but imo that looks tacky and unrefined

I voted for the cooler - you should always reinforce the fundamentals before looking to add power, or else you'll end up with an expensive house of cards, with a lousy foundation.
What good's the power if you can't put it down?

My thoughts exactly Jason :)

That is all good advice, personally i voted for the cooler myself, i just wanted to thank everybody, and think that i am going to go with the cooler then the pods.
As for the sneaky pete nitrous system i know it is crappy, but my car has high miles and don't want to blow anything up, so i think that would be perfect it gives me a couples tenths of a second but is pretty much safe.
For the gauge pod, i am going to have a custom gauge pod made, not sure what yet but i know there isn't one for the 98's, i probably wont put it on the a pillar though.

i'm not a huge fan of gauges unless they are realy needed... does the GA really need a tranny cooler (honest question)?
i'd for-go the sneeky pete N.O.S. kit, it's realy not even made for fuel injected cars and like what the others said... it's more or less a waste.... a friend has one and i was looking at trading it w/ him for a rebuilt turbo i have laying around (plus some $$$) it's just not worth the $200 or whatever they want when you can spend another 150 and get a wet kit which is much safter and acculy gives you much more power vs the same dry shot.

In a word, yes. Given that many of us are given to enthusiastic driving, and the general lack of cooling under the hood (speaking for myself, the engine bay is way too hot for my liking), a tranny cooler is the trick to making it last - and an even cheaper thing to do than, say, have the thing rebuilt due to premature wear.

what size transmission cooler would be needed for a 99 GA? I plan on keeping my car and would like to start on mods to sustain my cars life.

i just found this site, check it out it has a good explanation of why you need or would want a transmission cooler and it suggests a size for compact cars.

I say it all depends if you plan on doing any other performance mods to your car or how you drive your car (if you plan on using the nitrous often, drive hard, or in long periods of time ie. a couple hours at once) If you do I would definately go with cooler, its worth spending the >$100 with installation then spending around 2 g's later. But if your only going to use the nitrous every once in a while or dont drive to hard then I'd say its ok to get the nitrous now.

i know this was not on your list get a cold air intake i put one on mine and it sounds better and a little faster also if you have a mass air flow sensor move it down by your cai the resaults are great. any way go with the tranny cooler then the pod with tranny temp then a real nos set up with pressure gauge

I have the cai on my car with a k&n air filter, and i do like it alot. I think i am gonna get the cooler and eventually the gauges, but i probably won't go with the nos cause i am just to cautious about it, that is why i only wanted the sneaky pete system because it only gives a very small shot.

minime you can still get a big nos kit and still dial your shots down the same as the sneaky pete
